Does the AI have to fulfil the same conditions as a human player before getting Marian reforms?

Yes. In other words, you will never face Marian legionaries in a campaign battle unless you keep them alive long enough or unless you get extremely lucky.

Thanks for that.

How long are we talking? I'm at around 190BC, and have recently starting seeing Polybian units. Will Rome get better at conquering people now, beause they've sucked so far?

Polybians will occur unconditionaly at 204.

Marians become avalible potentialy at 170, but htere is no way the AI will ever mange to get amrians, not untill the unconditional date of 104? maybe? around about that I think. Not a big Roman fan so don't take my word for it.

Just wait till they conquered the required 90 provinces. Won't take long, believe me.

Ahh, I think that might take a while. It's about 190BC, and they haven't even conquered the boot yet (Epeiros has the heel, I've got the toe). I think they only have 8 provinces altogether...

Whenever I play non roman (ie whenever I play eb:laugh4: ), I set the roman reforms to be entriley date dependent, 230 for the Polybians, and 150 for the Marians. Imperials are set for 90, but I've never even got close to that.:sweatdrop:
