Patching R:TW Gold Edition

Sorry this might be irrelevant but I have a problem. I just finished installing 1.3 (and I have the Gold Edition) and it keeps saying "No prior installation of Rome: Total War".

As you can see, I'm a noob at this, but could it be because I don't really need 1.3 because I already have BI?

Don't worry - R:TW patch 1.3 isn't required with the the Gold Edition. It typically already comes patched up to v1.5 (R:TW) and v1.6 (BI).

A while ago, though, there were reports of a certain version of the Gold Edition only being patched up to v1.3 (R:TW) and v1.4 (BI). If this is the case, then additional patching is required to step up to the latest versions.

You can find out which patch version your game is using by selecting options on either R:TW's or BI's starting menu.

In the top left hand corner, there should be a number - 1.3 or 1.5 in R:TW's case or 1.4 or 1.6 in BI's case.

If you are running v1.3 (R:TW) and v1.4 (BI), then you will simply need to apply the v1.6 patch (http://www.mizus.com/files/files/RTW/patches/rome_total_war_patch_1-6.zip). This patches R:TW to v1.5 and BI to v1.6.

If you are running v1.5 (R:TW) and v1.6 (BI), then you need to do nothing to update to the latest version - you already are running it.
