OK a few people have mentioned since MTW came out about the disapointment of the GA game - ie its just the conquest game by another name. There are so few non-conquest GA's that most of a factions points come from the lands they hold. There are a few really good, original ideas in there (eg HRE one for keeping heresy below certain level). But they are too few. So here are some suggestions.
Points for every cathedral you build, for every faction, in every province (not just 1 or 2 factions as a one off). 1st faction to build cathedral gets bonus points.
Points for faction with largest trade income (not just Italy)
For "homeland" GAs eg reconquista,British Isles, faction should get bonus points once all provinces are re-united
Faction which has highest tech should get bonus points.
The thing I want is to get away from the idea that a nations "greatness" is defined merely by the size of its territory. Cultural, religious, intellectual all influence how we judge a nation from history. Also CA say the GAs are based upon the history of that nation and thats fine, but it doesn't leave much room for changing history - Why shouldn't a tiny nation like say denmark get points if they have the highest trade income? They would be much more deserving than Italy who have every chance to have highest income.
So, impress me with your ideas.
