I have seen Mr. Panda as a Lusotannan captain sometimes, but never in Gaul. It seems, the china-connection is expanding...

*blink*
Narcissistic fella, probably spends more of the time staring at his reflection in the sea than watching where his fleet's going.

Probably when the Chinese were chasing after the nomadic tribes - Xiongnu/Yuezhi/etc their rode giant pandas as equivalent of elephants...but the pandas all starved because there were no bamboo in Europe. :(

Historically, during the time of the Roman Empire, they sent an army on a campaign against the Huns and reached the Caspian sea...and their borders touched Afghanistan IIRC

As carthage EB 0.84 I once had an Admiral Ackbar, he survived for 20 years and was the bane of roman shipping in the med until he was caught in a trap by a full stack of pirates. wish I had taken a picture

Did he have flippers for hands? And what did he say in that situation?

Caligula was really proud of his silk-togas...yes, the Roman and Chinese emperors knew of each other and called their civilized empires "the eyes of the world"- a reference to both the physical shape and cultural supremacy.
There were no proper ambassadors, but they used to have trade connections.

No wonder you didn't get any sense from it. The name makes all the difference, because Star Wars Fish Face's name, L.L.Caesar, happens to be Admiral Ackbar. :)
