Can you dismount Feudal Knights

i have been playing this game since release, and in the pre-battle set-up I cannot, and you cant produce them so what am i missing (no smart arse comments please =)

The official explanation is that, historically, cavalry didn't start dismounting in open field battles until midway through the game. Usually, only later troops can dismount in open field battles while all or almost all can dismount in castle battles.

ah thank you, however,...hehe

i have about a dozen books on medieval warfare in my library and they all say that actually most of the time knights were dismounted to fight on foot, with only a small portion remaining mounted for the rout

oh well....hehe =)
