Hi All,

I just joined the forum today and thought I'd post a greeting.

I bought RTW a few weeks ago but then discovered the mod scene - something very new to me.

I installed EB yesterday and was immediately impressed. I joined the forum in the hope that, as my campaign progresses, I can post any queries I might have.

Although I'm a real novice, I'm enjoying the EB experience. I decided to play the Romans first, as their culture/geography is most familiar to me - though that's not saying a great deal! Still, I'm learning fast. Also, I live in a city founded by the Romans (in AD 71), which they called 'Eboracum', so playing their faction seemed appropriate.

Finally, I selected my username by opening 'The Penguin Dictionary of Ancient History' at random - turns out ol' Javolenus was a legionary commander in Britain who later became Governor of Germania Superior and then Syria. Looks like I've got a lot to live up to!

Cheers for now.

Hi There! And thanks for the welcome reply. As for Eboarcum, it was the Roman name for modern-day York, which is in the NE of England. Luckily, we still have some fragments of Roman stonework visible plus - reputedly - some Roman ghosts!
