Number 1 should be disqualified for heavy photo-shoppage.

#3 FTW.

Meh. It's tasteful "photo-shoppage". I was torn between the Punic General and Once in Britain, but decided to go with the former. The picture quality (pixels pixels everywhere) of Konigstiger ruins an otherwise good screenie, imho.

Konigstiger all the way!!

Voted for the general, but it came down to a toss of coin in the end with the Königstiger.

'Once in Britain' is nice too, though, but I find the other two better.

But the screenshot contest is a contest of EB no? Or is it a contest of photo-shopping a picture to how you WANT EB to look? If there are pixels well, that's how EB looks. It would have been awesome if it wasn't dressed up to be something that it just isn't.

I was torn between Britain and the last one, they're both fantastic really. The one of Britain catches both sides' soldiers swinging their weapons, the barbarians look especially good. It's zoomed in to a point where you can blatantly see every unit looks totally identical. You can't see that in the third because it's zoomed out slightly so it looks more realistic.

I understand your point, but what matters (regarding the contest) is that the original picture whas taken from EB. If the artist edited the image is not important, since it can go in his favour or against him. Besides, if we prohibited edited images, there would be a lot of discussion about if a particular pic was edited or not.

seeing "Königstiger" makes me want to continue me Ptolemioi campaign up to the moment when romans will hit marians but still succumb to the overhelming might of well organised force of Clerouchoi Agema, Basilikon Agema, Hetairos and Imperial Trumplers

Art, as far as I know, is the human activity who's main purpose is creating aesthetics, and therefore it uses specific mothods of expression. I think that the question is: is this an art contest or something else?
I wanted my pictures to be more artistic (more like a painting) and therefore I used some acdsee options. I think that is nothing wrong with making raw EB screenshots, is just that the edited ones are better usually (not because I say so, but because it's proven by this contest. Poeple like the edited ones better in general). Therefore I see no reason why someone would impose a rule against editing them. Not to mention that if there were a rule like that, from two equally beautiful screens, the contest would have been won by the guy with the better video card. So, I dare asking again, is this about art or pixels?

I respect other people's opinion, but I don't have to share it. And I hope I gave enough arguments. Peace

P.S I'm not a fan of heavy photo-shoppage either. I only like my pics to be a little more artistic than a raw image. Plus that I have an old video card.

It is actually quite difficult to "properly" edit these screens, since there are so many soldiers on screen and hand-editing each of them would take tons of time. So usually the choice is either no editing at all or just filters.
Occasionally i've been more thorough, but it's awfully time-consuming, as said.
I have to agree that senseless editing can be harmful (like those obscene lens flares or pixellation effects), usually subtleness is best :egypt:

Shame the only reason I used one or two filters is because the orginal scene was so dusty, it was hard to see the soldiers:no:

I wish my games looked like these shots... very true. i am just barely squeaking by so some soldiers have little pointy crab legs. and don't even start with adding smoke/dust.

someday i will have the nerve to drop two thousand bucks on a computer, but not today.

I just have to go with Königstiger.

The argyraspids, legionnaries, and the armoured war elephants with all the sand and dust flying is just beautiful! :beam:
