This saturday night/sunday morning see's what some are calling the fight of the century, in the boxing world.

Britains Ricky Hatton fight's USA's Flloyd Mayweather, both of whom are undefeated and world champions.

What are your predictions on the fight, and why?

Boxing sucks you can't kick them ~;)

Mayweather would have to break both of his hands to lose. Unfortunately.

Mayweather is the absolute perfect example of everything that's wrong with boxing and the reason why the UFC/WEC and MMA in general are going to rule the future of fighting. I truly wish Hatton luck. He's going to need it.

Like Ramses says, Mayweather is most likely going to win. Though Hatton's less annoying by far.

Fight of the Century?

That was Tyson/Lewis in 2000... boxing's last taste of the major spotlight.

The "major" fights ever since have been last efforts from a dying sport, and none of them have truly been epic.

Oh, and I think Pretty Boy Floyd will take it.

i don't care much for boxing and definitely not for Mayweather's attitude but living under the mantra of "USA USA" any international fight my allegiance is pretty much chosen for me.
I personally prefer MMA simply because i'm training to compete:boxing: .

This sure as hell isn't the fight of the century. Has everyone forgotten Benn vs McClelland? Holyfield vs Tyson? Liston vs Clay? Foreman vs Ali? etc...
Fight of the century my arse, but I'm staying up for it. GO HATTON. Teach that American version of Chris Eubank a lesson ( I'm convinced they are the same person after seeing the way he dresses, he's only missing the monocle.)

But seriously, it's a good match up. Technically good but lightweight puncher vs bar room brawler.
Not sure where my money is... but whoever wins this has to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world surely?

BTW if anyone in the Halifax area wants to come and see it just PM me. I've got beer on the go and plenty of space (2 of 6 sofa spaces free atm).

I don't think it's a dying sport, just a sport that needs a few characters. Unfortunately it's judged by the personalities of the heavyweights and there ain't too much there at the moment.

Great fight. Was amazing to see the British fans fervor, almost made me wanna root for Hatton. Then they booed our national anthem and I thoroughly enjoyed the subsequent knockout beatdown.

Well deserved win for Mayweather. Hatton struggled to deal with Mayweathers accuracy at range. Mind you I've got to ask what relation the ref was to Mayweather, his reffing was atrocious all through the fight. Not that Mayweather needed the help, he outclassed Hatton after the first couple of rounds.

Meh, it's a football yob thing. Maybe the Americans in the arena could have tried singing along and drowning them out. Plus, the guy singing the Spangled Banner dragged out every single note forever - God Save The Queen may be a dirge, but at least it's over quickly!

I think whoever's holding the ref's family hostage should give them back now that Mayweather's won - that point deduction was ridiculous. Didn't matter in the end though, Hatton was brave but totally outclassed.

Another example of what's broken about boxing. This was supposed to be a good matchup? When even a guy like me (A lot of guys like me), who has barely watched boxing in the last 6 years, knows that Mayweather is so technical Hatton never had more than a puncher's outside chance?

S'just not terribly interesting.

It's a shame Hatton had to fight with both the ref and Mayweather for the first few rounds, it really didn't help him. Mayweather is a tough and skilled cookie and Hatton was always going to charge at him regardless of however many hits he took. Ricky struggled the last time he went up the weights. He was clearly outboxed, which you expect, but wasn't given any quarter by the ref which annoyed him and he ended up going over the top, gung-ho and lost it. Oh well. He sure proved he can take a punch though - or ten dozen! It was also nice to see Mayweather finally show some respect and grace after the fight. And also to see Ricky didn't lose his sense of humour, '... and then I slipped'. Quality guy!

They booed the American national anthem? For god's sake.

Didn't stand a chance, poor bloke. Still.. pies and guinness all around!

I think it's shameful. I hate it when people boo national anthems, it just so disrespectful. Appologies on behalf of the English people, they're not all like that, the loud ones are unfortunately.

I thought boxing had all the issues of cycling and WWE combined.

Lots of drugs and lots of fixed matches.

Has that changed recently?
