View Full Version : Mongols Too Weak?

I have had this game since release + 2 days, always on expert (highest level), from both early and high eras various factions.
One thing that really bothers me is that the Mongols have NEVER been anything more than a speedbump in the game. In almost every game, they are totally annihilated by the Rus (in high) or whoever happens to be in the area within 15 years of appearance.
Now i am no Mongol expert, but from what i understand, and the map in the latest era the Mongols managed to take and hold a large part of E Europe, but they never get out of Khazar in my games?
Do they need to be strengthened? Anyone else disappointed at not being seriously threatened by the Mongols?
Agreed, the Mongols are never more than a side show.
The problem is the number of buildings destroyed when a province changes hands. If the Mongols get free troops, they will become too powerful. However, under the current system, Khazar goes back into the stone age once the Mongols conquer them. CA needs to tone down the number of stuff destroyed. Maybe 4*castle level years worth of stuff or something like that.
No, they need more troops. Much more.
The truth is when the mongols arrived everyone in Europe was shitting out of fear.

Yeah, they currently act as sparring partners...
I would like :
1) have the number of buildings destroyed during an attack decreased. This has little sense(even if there are compensations, as loyalty even lower in conquered land)
2) be able to campaign the Mongols. woohoohoo

Yes, we need a REAL Mongol campaign, not just mods and cutting out another playable faction ...

i just had another *yawn* mongol assault, i noticed another major prob with them and often AI prob,...
mongols spawn with approx. 1/3 to 1/2 their troops being siege engines.
they need more cav, archers, and foot as oppossed to 20 trebuchets and ballistae

Dunno about the other factions but while playing Rus, Mongols are a bit weak. I usually capture border provinces fight them off quickly in the VolgaBulgaria, seal them in Khazar and then assault with a large force.
Yes it makes it easier when they attack with siege weapons in front... still reinforcements are pretty tough.
What I would suggest is that invasion being reprogrammed guiding Mongols AI to capture Eastern Europe(Kiev, Pereyaslavl, Crimea) and not to act as an independent faction, like they do.
