Playing sweboz trying to take Iuvavoaeta.

Four times now I have defeated a stack led by Satres on the bridge close to the city. Now have defeated them again and besieged the city, he appears again right behind me.

1. Is this a 'feature'?
2. Is this know?
3. Is there a way of nerfing this cos the stacks aren't easy to beat, not whining but having had to beat the same stack five times its getting a bit repetitive?

It is a feature, it is there to prevent both the Sweboz and Romani from becomeing too strong in an area that should have been really hard to conquer. I get around them by sending spies into the towns, sneaking around and attacking it while the huge stack is away. Then once the town is mine, I take out the stack. Hard to do, but it will ensure he doesn't come back (those guys will only respawn if the settlement is 'rebel').

Just get yourself some slingers (or phalanxes, if you want it to be even more easy):

Running around with gold chevroned slingers is a bit of an exploit. A more balanced army provides for more of a challenge and more enjoyment when at last the hateful rebel leaders and their nice big armies never reappear...

Was silver not gold chevron. Besides, I only used that many slingers in that particular battle because I had run out of infantry, so I moved in what I had in my reinforcement stack (I always move my armies with an accompanying reinforcement stack to almost always be able to field full stacks).

That's all ok ....but repetitive and uninviting. I have just laid siege and am now about to get sandwiched by the respawned army of soldats and alpine axemen on one side and alpine phalanx and naked spearmen on the other....:2thumbsup:

The way to get rid of them is to take the settlement. A lengthy siege is not good as he'll be a nasty threat. Alternatively, beat the stack and allow the general to escape from the fight. He won't respawn then.

But since he is rebel, he will die when you win the battle, whether he survives it or not.

Excellent point Marcus. I guess you'd have to wittle them down and withdraw then. Taking the settlement swiftly seems the better way though.
