Is Thurso on the map? (And how CA decides)

I live in a small town called Thurso in the far North of Scotland, about twenty miles away is Wick which I found out today is actually on the map in the Brittania campaign. But is Thurso?
I hope so for the following reason I just explained on MSN:

Isn't Wick enough for my David

No there has always been a rivalry between Thurso and Wick. We call them "Dirty Wickers" and they see us as snobs.

It's not fair if they get to be in the game and we don't. "Wick" means nothing, "Thurso" means "Thor's River". It's perfect for the game.


I won't understand if Thurso isn't in the game when Wick is :no: Not that it's a serious complaint to CA or anything but just a personal gripe :laugh4: Id love to control my hometown in medieval times like those who live in the major cities of Europe can.
Ive done several google image searches but can't find any screenshots of that area of the map. If someone could confirm the bad news for me then Id be grateful.

To make this topic a little more worthwhile, I also wonder how CA decides what settlements end up in the game. Some major ones like Paris are obvious but I wonder what factors come into consideration for the smaller settlements. All I know is, that if Wick gets to make an appearance, then Thurso, an important Viking settlement definately should!


P.S: Im getting Kingdoms for Christmas, what is this Securicom I keep hearing about? What is so bad about it?

P.S.S: So now you know when you attack Wick from now on be sure your General throws in a line about "Dirty Wickers". It sends them mental ;)

I understand your feeling. I noticed on a screenshot Glasgow is on the campaign map, even though it didn't exist at the time! Dumbarton, the capital of the Kingdom of Strathclyde, is not included.:no:

CA will go for the better known settlements, I think Wick is better known than Thurso, altough maybe thats just because of Wick Academy in the glamarous heights of the Highland League.

Yeah I noticed Glasgow and thought that was odd. Used to live there and Im fairly positive it is a modern industrial city not a medieval one.

Oh come off it!

In medevil times Glasgow was a center of swordsmanship and weapons training. It had the best of these schools in Europe. The Germans went to Glasgow to learn how to fight & in turn their masters opened schools there.

I don‘t know how old it is but it was there. Most of the history on the web is just church information though…

Well Glasgow's first university opened in the 15th Century I think, a little late for the timeframe.

Universities were at the time church institutions. I don’t think that the two go hand in hand.
