Does the unit that kills a king on the battelfield automatically gain a point of valour? A couple of times i have had units gain valour for only killing 4 or 5 men (one of which is the king). If this is the case then it may explain why they have been made harder to kill.

It's not quite as simple as that, but killing one King count is equivilent to killing around 50 ordinary guys for purposes of going up in valour.

50!!!

Damn, that is a lot. So if a man who has not yet killed anybody kills a king, he jumps to Valour 6??? WOW! No wonder the whole unit goes up, and I would never expect that man to die.

50 men...

What about princes? 25 men?

The Ottomans fielded x8 units at the Siege of Malta to beat La Vallette, they failed miserably, useless chaps http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Their forefathers haven't faired much better against me as i have wiped them out http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Would be nice to see the great siege as a custom campaign in the add-on, even though its a 100 years AFTER MTW finishes!

Oh if only the cannon could fire heads http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Eh...?

Well, do heirs give a good bonus for killing too, and what about normal generals?

I haven't noticed anything, but it would sure be nice to know. Now I can understand why my 16 surviving Varangians (that one unit you have in early Byzantine) were at Valour 6, they had killed 2 Sultans and an heir.

I'm thinking of making a custom historical battle or campaign about it...would be fun.

As to make cannons fire heads, you can always edit the pic that represents cannon balls... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

here's another jump some of you may not have noticed. it was expeditious of me to kill off the pope at one point. he was truly getting big-headed. i sent a rank 0 assassin at him and succeeded. he went from 0 to 5 from that one kill.

Had I known this I would have sent Assasins on suicide missions before I did.
