View Full Version : Serious problem - can´t travel from Denmark to Scotland

The problem is this: I´m playing Danes. I want to make an attack to Scotland. I have a port and a dock in Denmark, and one ship on every sea between Scotland and Denmark. No hostile ships, just neutral or ally. I also can travel to Ireland and back - now tell me one sensible reason, why am I unable to move my freakin' troops to that crappy little Scotland? I have done everything as it should be. Dock, ships on seas, no hostiles. And I can travel to Ireland. What could be the problem?

' Crappy Little Scotland' ??

The problem could be that you are an inbred scandanavian half wit.

If the land that you are attacking only neutral you cant attack it by sea like that. Atleast I havent been able to do that. If you are in war with that faction, then its a bug i think.

GAH!

Just tell your boat captain: "More power, Scotty!"

When he replies "I'm given it all I got Kepten! If I push any harder, she'll blow!"... you can then say...

A) "Damn it! Hold her! I'll be right down!"
B) "More power!"
C) "Bring out the Gimp! Make those slaves row HARDER!"
D) "GAH!"

There are no right answers. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

You can attack scotland by sea if it is neutral (I finished off Scotland by attacking the neutral bandits there). Perhaps the Scots were hostile and had a ship in the same area?

Indeed you can. I attacked Britain top-down as the Danes. I landed in Scotland then worked my way South.

Do you have a boat in the North Sea? I think that's the one you need to attack Scotland from.

Just checked. Scotland is neutral. There are only neutral and ally ships on the sea, no hostiles. And if there were hostiles, how could I travel to Ireland?

Yeah, North Sea also has a boat. And I also checked one by one, every other boat is ally or neutral.

This seems like a bug here. A serious bug. From Ireland I can attack few coutries, but not any of the Britain provinces. I should absolutely also be able to attack britain.

better check your boats and sea zones again. and look behind one of those other boats. there may be an enemy boat there you're not seeing. click on all the sea zones and let it remain highlighted and then check each and every boat there for friendly, nuetral, enemy, cause it works fine for me. i've done the invade scotland by sea routine several times with no problem. also check where yer coming from. make sure you have a port there or it wont work.

No, neutral and ally ships stop you from moving troops over water as well as enemy ships.

You can protect yourself from amphibious assaults by having a ship in every seazone that your provinces borders (not always just the seazone where the port is, such as Greece).

BTW, Danish Crusades are true to history.

You may not care about war, but war cares about you!

Actually, the full deal is that enemy ships will blockade you completely (stop you travelling through the sea region). Neutral ships will allow you to pass through sea regions they are also in,but they will prevent you from launching an attack on one of their regions if one of their boats is in the way. A sort of partial blockade, as it were.

Maybe I had a bug, but this is my experiences:

1. If u wanna travel by sea and have boats in every water it shouldnt be any problem even if there is a neutral ship or an ally ship in there.

2. If there is an enemy ship get rid of it then you can ship your troop thru that water again.

3. If you want to attack a province by shipping troups make sure that the faction that own that province isnt a neutral or ally. If its ur enemy then its ok. If its rebel that owns the province I think you can attack that province even if it says they are neutral.
