View Full Version : Do we really need to compete?

MiniMe

I know that screenshots without people and some kind of editing are not going to win the competition.
Besides, I'm not intrested in competition.
Just wanted to share with you.

competitions are cool they bring up some pretty sick and cool screenshots BUT u can't let it get to your head and take away your enjoyment of the game and screens that YOU think are cool.

I sometimes post in the pics forum, and sometimes I don't. Since 1.0 came out I haven't posted a pic because having fraps running will just slow down my already slow game.

I wouldn't even vote for a screenshot that has been enhanced, i really think that in future polls there needs to be strict rules that screenshots must be purely from EB. Different graphics settings don't mean a thing, it's not the graphics that make a screenshot awesome, it's what is going on in the actual screenshot.

That's my opinion too. Sandy or snowy ground reflects light, even on shadows. Not sure about grass... Haven't seen it for a while, but I don't recall such strong shadows. Especially the difference between unit shadows and object shadows is distracting.

All hail, indeed. I'm really excited about the prospects of more interesting geography, especially near mountains. Fighting in the mountains in RTW has none of the feeling of actual mountain combat. Hopefully, you've all remedied that with cliffs, rocks, etc...

Either way, I'm sure 1.1 and all the other benefits that come after will continue to make this into an even better experience.

At first I tried editing the .db file with a hex editor and that was a nightmare but thankfully LordBula made a great tool that makes it a lot easier to edit the file using Excel.

Then after trying some ideas that didn't work (like using the M2TW values) we just went with trial and error and I believe managed to improve the look of the battle maps. There are still some places that are not right but it's mostly hardcoded problems. All in all the landscapes are less drab and boring.

Will that map be available in custom battles? It just looks like fun to play as all factions in but with my conquering (lack of) speed I'll never reach it as some factions, e.g. Casse or Lusotannan, and it looks great for Lusotannan ambush tactics.

It wasn't as much a forest as the slope of a mountain. And my troops stood on top of it - the AI was attacking. Mind you the AI decided there was only so much crap it could take so it retreated from the battle on its own account (when they were exhausted and had climbed not even halfway yet).

Antigonos Gonatas ascended to the throne of the Makedonoi among hardships not every man can dare to tackle. Pyrrhos, the Molossos king of Epeiros invaded the homeland herself, claiming inheritence from Megas Alexandros by blood line; grizzled old Khremonides was plotting a union against Makedonia between Athenai, Sparte and Rhodos; Keltoi had Dardanoia and most of Thraikia in their hands and the Getai were in no friendly terms either. The only support, in terms of diplomacy and some trade was from Seleukeia, who were busy in their struggle with the incestous Ptolemaioi, who in turn were in support of the plot the Hellenes were brewing.

The king had to act immediately and had no tolerance for faults. So, he decided the strike the disunited first, before they become a more perilous threat, and attacked Athenai.

Khremonides, the very author of the discontent, fell with the bullet of a blessed slinger.

But Pyrrhos was a more serious foe to be reckoned with. He captured Pella! The king's elder son Alkyoneus defended bravely till his last drop of blood. The wretched barbaros had his Keltoi sack the ancestral tombs.

Pyrrhos, unheeding the sarissai pointed towards him.

After years of labour and unaccoutable amount of sweat and blood, it was time to avenge. Not only Pyrrhos himself but his whole family should pay for his insolence.

Antigonos sends Helenos to Hades conquering Epidamnos.

With Athenai, Sparte and Rhodos subdued, and the Molossoi expelled to Kalabria, it was time to unite the realms of Alexandros, and those that should have been his.

Scenery from Krete.

King Demetrios, son of Antigonos Gonatas decided to bring an end to the Molossoi oppression in Megale Hallas. First step was liberating Taras, ruled mercilessly by a Syrakousios mercenary called Ageas, in the name of the Molossos king.

Thank you for the compliment!

I think it's my best picture from the list.

I would like to take some picture with the movie cam, but I'm too lazy to do costum battles, saving them and then watching the replay...
So I'm stuck with campaign shots.
