If you left click and drag a line from right to left the unit will form up and be facing you. Left click and drag left to right and it will be facing away from you. This features allows you to change the facing, destination and width/depth of a formation all with one command.

Also of great benefit is the Alt key. Press and hold Alt while right clicking and you can change the facing of your unit without moving it or changing it's width/depth. Press and hold Alt while left clicking and your formation will move to a destination without changing it's facing or it's width/depth.

Did you read the manual?

if i tell a unit to move somewhere they only go part of the way to it, its my mouse cos telling my units to attack the enemy isnt easy either, could be your mouse.

Let me be more specific.
When i want to move a unit FORWARDS i click IN FRONT of my unit and there the unit must go.Instead that the unit cames TOWARDS ME!!!!!
Thats the problem.I cannot click and drag my units at all.I dont understand.I play all my games with the mouse and this is the only game that makes me want to throw it from the window.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. I use a Creative 3D Blaster GeForce 4 MX460, and this problem has been really annoying, especially when playing the tutorials, where you actually get INSULTED when you don't follow instructions (or, that is, you click on the flag with maximal zoom, but the game still asks you if you've been out wenching...).
This problem only appears if using 2x AA or Quincunx. Since the game is a slideshow with 4xS FSAA enabled, I turned FSAA off, and now it works fine in 1024x768.

The only problem I have now is that it runs so choppy in larger battles that I'm thinking of returning the game. I mean on my PIII 800, 256 MB RAM, WinXP I should be able to play it on at least 640x480 with all settings at their lowest according to the system requirements. this is not the case however. I've seen some workarounds posted that I will try. This game is really nice and it would be a shame to return it.

Nevermind then..it does look like a video issue. Pom: I think this game is pretty processor intensive. My Athlon XP 1800+ 512MB PC2100, 128MB GeForce4 4200 is noticeably taxed a little with larger battles no matter what resolution I use.

Turn down the audio quality to help performance. The sound drivers for this game are crap IMO.

i had the same thing with FSAA on, kept clicking on the flag in the tutorial and the guy would say "that's not correct, follow orders"....it was the same with shogun, thought it would of been fixed in Total War, since a lot of people can run AA now, pretty slack but i guess the devs still use Geoforce 2 or something http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
