View Full Version : MORALE: FALSE
Does anybody playing their games with morale turned OFF?
I was really annoyed by ai with large armies, on VH(!), fleeing like peasants :brood:
that will definitely fix such a problem )))

this is a good idea,i think i will try it next game..
I play with morale off. Very atmospheric!! Can be quite a challenge, especially when outnumbered and outclassed!!!
I've found that the RTW AI also does better with fatigue turned off since it doesn't know how to manage fatigue. The AI doesn't seem to know about fatigue, and therefore makes its units run too much which weakens them.
Play with that off aswell:)

NO,i think i will only play morale off,coz i dun want to kill routing soldier,i rather watch them fighting or combat.....the rest option is ok to me for reality:yes:
the reality mode with morale off only...now i dun need to worry that my militia hoplites will route easily again....

I've never played with morale off, I prefer to see the more or less realistic picture of combat.

how come my army still broke and run after i set the morale false???
It can't..
You've probably did something wrong, for vanilla rome you need to change
RTW main folder/preferences/preferences.txt
For BI
RTW main folder/bi/preferences/preferences.txt
For EB for example
RTW main folder/EB/preferences/preferences.txt
In case mod I'm playing (BI modfolder)
RTW main folder/bi/eod/preferences/preferences.txt
Would there be also just an option to remove damned hills from the battle map, it would be even better..

RTW main folder/preferences/preferences.txt
but it still ain't works:sweatdrop:
Posibly a patronising question but do you "save" it?
Or do you type in capitals?? {edit} <-- it SHOULD be in capitals

i post my question here so i dun need to open a unnessecary thread..
will it works in my campaign if i change the morale value of militia hoplites in the export_descr_unit file?:help:
Wouldn't disabling morale increase the casualties inflicted by brave robots who never retreat?
yep, always 100% deaths at looser side (they can retreat though, if ordered to do so). But it's better than 20% in fight and 75 in chasing..

As I recall, the settings in preferences take effect when you start a new campaign.

They do.

I never actually turned the morale off before. I never felt the need-- one of the reasons I like RTW so much is its realistic depiction of battles. Morale and fatigue plays a large part in that realism.
To switch off morale would be to revert to a classic RTS game style, which I can never do, not after RTW.

Yes. As has been said above, you need to start a new campaign for it to take effect.
No need for starting new campaign - it's just a edu tweaking..

Really?
Yup, you need to start new one only after disabling/enabling it (seems so far). There are some files after changing which you need to start new campaign or regenerate .rwm, but it's too complicated to list them all (and I dont know them all...), EDU not one of them (unit numbers only mess maybe if you change them)
