My allies, i think they were the turkish, were in this fight with the french. well, then french took away some land. Well, i go in there, take the land back...and then the turkish attack me. Last time, I do anyone any favors....geesh

Helping Allies doesn't really work (yet). Only rarely can you assist them in battles, but you cannot return land to them peacefully.

Hehe the turks just wanted their land back, no matter who owns it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif.
Anyway if i feel i need to help an ally out, i do attacks on his enemy, but never ever take land (withdraw just before the enemy does), so the land now has low defence so my ally can take it.

thanks for the help. Is helping allies something there working on or do I jsut have to live with it?

Well several of us suggested to option to give money to an AI player. Didn't get confirmation of the the devs yet, but we have high hopes http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I would rather give a province or troops to the AI ...

Hm maybe I'm silly, but right now every diplomatic option is connected to the interaction of a strategic piece (princess, spy, etc) with another piece (king, general, etc..)

Now as I suggested, you could give money by sending the emmi to an allied king, because there is no event for this case yet. But where yould you click, or what would you do, to give a certain province to your ally, or certain troops ? The interface as it is today does not enable this in my opinion.

Of course it is possible, but only with mayor changes ...

Perhaps the Emissary could indicate the province you wanted to give away in the same way that you indicate which province you want to launch a crusade against.

Bwah you can't say such things based on just the look of the interface. If a program has a good modular structure it can be done without much pain !. It depends so much more on the structure of a program

And btw i indeed also prefer to give troops/provinces instead of money http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

You can save a castle from a siege. I have both done that, had help myself and been kicked out by an ally to the besieged. I had the last of the Aragonese bottled up in they castle when the Almohads desided it was time to help their allies. Strangely I suddenly went from 'at war' with the Aragonese to 'neutral' because of this, and they are still alive now 24 years later, when I'm fighting a Russian-style campaign against the Almohads (long campaign). I lost a bloody battle to them and had a very small force locked up in my Castle where they attacked at once. They lost about 1000 troops in that attack and I'm still holding the castle.

BTW, Danish Crusades are true to history.

You may not care about war, but war cares about you!

Both times that I have stepped in to raise a siege on an allied province (the French and the Danish), I have been given the 'You have lifted the siege, your ally sends his gratitude.'
Both times the little bastids have backstabbed me 1-2 turns later after long periods of peace. Well theres gratitude for you!! I guess they don't like being kept as a buffer zone between me(the English) and the Byzantine and Sicilian hordes.
