View Full Version : Abducting Princesses
OK:
#1 give assassins the ability to choose to either assassinate or abduct a target princess.
#2 make abduction more difficult, if it succeeds, then princess must marry one of your unwed princes. if you have no unwed princes, same result as assasination.
Hmm not sure wether that is euh political correct with the MTW engine. I mean if i was king and you abduct my daughter, i'd either be glad to get rid of her, OR i would be on your doorstep with my whole army to get her back.
As the game now is, you will get alliance so that seems hardly correct.
Though it might be nice to get some extra 'security' to not let you line of kings die out because no heir.

hmmm, forced marraige idea i dont really care for. good idea about adductions, however, but how about simply using it to raise money thru a ransom? in fact, one could add this abduction/ransom to most any agent. pay or die, sucka!

The only absolute is that there are no absolutes.
You wouldnt get an alliance. Either no diplomatic change would occur, or the victim would have more dislike for the kidnapper's faction (but you did get away with it.... so how does he know?).
Things like this happened in history, women stolen and compelled to marry. I don't think political correctness is really an issue.

That would be another option, after you kidnap, you get a choice whether to force marriage or attempt ransom. If you are France and you kidnap an English princess I see problems with a forced marriage, but the same wouldnt be true for non-christian factions. Think Mongols! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

hehe, kalt,
yup. we might wanna think about slavery too. captured some troops lately? put em in chains and have em go to work.
and what about turncoats? that would be another aspect that isnt really covered in the game, other than thru bribes. i can easily see conquering a province that was truly anti-whatever you are and then you start recruiting from this province and end up with a nice little turncoat army that just up and jumps ship at some key point in a battle. it wouldnt apply to the entire province loyalty thing. that is already covered. this would just be for that one army.
now add in deep spies, moles. infiltrate the higher ranks of nobility and the aristocracy?
i'm not very knowledgeable about this for this time period, but was sabotage very prevalent during those times?
we also have a number of disasters in the game, storms, famine, earthquakes, floods and various diseases, but the one thing i keep expecting to happen that doesnt happen, is that some of those diseases were quite virulent and contagious. shldnt they spread outward from the source and last a bit longer at times? the 'black plaque' is the example i always think of.
i'm also still waiting for 'cow chucking'. lol. i got such a kick out of the game stronghold where you could load cows into your catapults and such and simply hurl them at the enemy. tosa and i played that game in multi and i used to drive us both to peals of laughter by my cow chucking :) ....mooooooooo....*splat*

The princesses should be abducted when they wander off into Saracen territory. End up in the Hareem and all that, you know.
The good thing about putting in captured princesses, even with limitations, is that it is a possible means to secure brides for your heirs even though in some games _NO_ faction is willing to marry with yours.
