ok, so i have EB and all and i do love it but i wanted to play some classic vanilla thrace and was wondering if i were to add all the factions that are unplayable if it would affect EB at all?

Altering that vanilla file won't hurt EB.

ok cuz i remember when i first got EB they said to make sure that the extra factions werent in there or it wouldn't work so i wasn't sure if it still affected it

I still play vanilla all the time. Never SP though, only MP. Nobody ever plays EB MP, and besides it's not balanced enough. RTW MP is great (been doing it for 2 years now and still loving it).

REAL PEOPLE!! They present a refreshing challenge after the crappy AI bores me to death. I could never leave the community either.

Altering that vanilla file won't hurt EB.

That's only partly true - EB still use some of Vanilla files - ie most vegetation files, buildings, battlefileds files and altering them would effect on EB.
But - in this case - making all files playable on Vanilla campaign won't hurt EB as it uses completly independent campaign map.

Its the sheer horribleness of the units that make my stomach turn. How could they release the game with units that looked so horrible, and not just the colours too...they were really bad models and skins.

Which was why I played RTW at maximum zoom-out so I didn't have to look at them as anything more than abstract units.

Why can't I play vanilla? The loading screen comes up but it CTDs before it gets to the main menu

See? Your computer cares about you so much that it is trying to spare you the horrors of vanilla by CTDing before the flashy war pigs and Arcani burn your eyes out. I think some lucky PC deserves a nice defragmenting... :clown:

I'vwe played vanilla this weekend. Just for laughs. it's fun to see my computer take all the graphics at maximum and not budge... Also, cavalry charging against 3 units of hastati and punching a hole trough them...

Oh and the fact that their Generals seem to think that the front of my triarii are the best cavalry targets.

I remember my first vanilla campaign :yes: ..
4 units of Armoured Eles (that is 48 eles, to be precise) + 6X2 MegaOnager deathrayz + Hannibal + several Sacred Bands wearing good oldfashioned corinthian helmets :yes: ..
I've destroyed walls of Rome completely and let my Imperial Trumplers in :yes: .. rome-kebab
I love vanilla :yes:

I remember playing as romans against spain... spain had 1200+ troops placed half of them in the walls. I sent two units of Urban cohorts with some experience (+5 or +6). Alone, they killed 900+ troops. the walls were a path of bodies.
After a while I decided to give the rest of my army the rest of the computer army and pulled the Urban cohorts away. all in all I got 50 casualities on the urban cohorts.

Talk about over powered aigh?

Well rtw vanilla ,i think, was made to uber exagerate the power of the romans and ignoring other factions (as Dacia)

anyway i play rtw vanilla mp cause nobody is playing eb mp:shame:

Well I do agree with you but I'd just like to play it every now and then to remind myself how good EB is

EB MP is the S***!!! hopefully once I get my internet working at home I can intouch with Pharnk and madmatg to see if EB 1.0 MP is really working or not.

.81x was pretty good too bad I never got to play you TWfanatic, BUT I did play madmatg after he was schooled by you in the use of slingers. To this day I hate slingers.... charriots are a close 2nd.

So I just tried vanilla RTW again for the first time since EB .7 something was out, and quickly remembered why, after buying Rome, I played with it for about a week before going right back to Medieval 1 for another two years or so. I wouldn't even know where to start.

The atrocious voice acting really stood out to me, I wasn't sure if I should laugh or feel disgusted hearing my charging Principes (complete with Lorica Hamata- oops) yelling "UNLEASH HAYLE!!" in a southern US drawl. One also can't forget not being able to take playing as any Greek factions due to getting tired of being called "Strappy Horse" (due to the voice actor's inability to pronounce "Strategos" properly in his awful fake Greek accent" each time you clicked an army.

Needless to say, the "Try Vanilla again" experiment lasted for about 5 minutes- Thanks EB team, once again, I love you all for this King of game mods. :2thumbsup:

well I didn't play vanilla MP that much the thing that really bugged me was the inacuracies in the units just like in SP. For example... I had Roman Pretorian Cavarly beat up the best of Macedonian cavarly and I was like "HEY! that ain't right!" :furious3: and I also had Spartan Hoplies chew up Silver Shields.

you know for EB... all of us have yet to play 1.0 EB MP at this time I can't say much becuase I will be talking about .81x.

I've continued my vanilla campaign! For a moment, battles seemed tougher than in EB and I was wow... Then, I realized I was mmaking that great stratejic flaw that is placing my heavy infantry to absorb the charge from the heavy cavalry... Now that's a mistake in vanilla. Not only does a single unit of Heavy cavalry routs 3 units of hastati and 2 of equites, they're plain ugly! Still, I'm having an amusing time it's been fourty turns and I have Gaul and half of the "Spain" after obliterating those damn "Spaniards" :p
Oh and I made a custom battle just to remember how I missed the Romans super Ninja assassins "Arcani" they are the best they can hide in the middle of a road!!!
