Hey fellow kings, generals and sultans!

(You may skip this part and jump straight to the question below if you like)
I just started a new Sicilian campaign, my first one in many many months. The situation is as follows:
My first king just passed away. He left behind a son and three daughters. The son is now the king and one daughter is married to HRE prince. The second daughter has just recently come to age and she is hot!
The second king seemed to be unable to produce a single son. He has one daughter but he seems to prefer fighting to making kids... The king had to adopt a promising young man to be the heir since he was the only male member in the family tree. The king was fighting in southern Italy and should he have died, it would have been the end of the game.
Now I wish to marry the adopted son, the heir. The second daughter of the first king would be a lovely bride...

The question is: Do the descendants get inbred traits if I marry the adopted heir to the daughter of my first king? Is it even possible in the game? Genetically they are not relatives so this wouldn't be a problem in real life. However, I do not know how the game treats adopted family members. And I'd like to keep the family line free of bad traits.

Any help would be appreciated - Guru

It should be safe...but if you let him find one himself you may get another man when she marries.

The problem is that neither the heir or the daughter get any marriage proposals. So I thought the prince would get some good traits from the gracious daughter. And the descendants (future kings and princesses etc) would benefit from having a top-notch father and beautiful and smart mother, too. The downside might be that the descendats could be deranged zombies if the game treats adopted members like real family members.

I haven't seen any inbred traits MTW2, although I don't marry princesses to generals or family members very often, si that could be why.

The game notes bloodline, so your character's kids are fine.
The adopted son is not related to any characters on the tree and marrying his adopter's sister isn't going to change that.

There is however always a 1% chance to get Inbred even if unrelated.

Ok, thanks for your input. Especially FactionHeir, that was what I was after, thanks.

Blah! The game doesn't allow me to arrange such a marriage. It says "no unmarried generals in range" or something like that, but the heir is still not married. The princess can't marry her brother's adopted son... Now that I put it that way, it sounds pretty gross. It's a shame, the daughter got 7 charm or so...

It should normally allow it. There have been oddities before with princesses not being able to marry certain characters at random on the family tree before though.
It reads no potential suitors in this army?

Yep. When I move the cursor over the adopted prince with the princess activated it says "No potential suitors in this army", and when I click the prince it says "no unmarried generals in range" where any suitors would normally appear. I only get the possibility of merging the princess with the stack. The daughter's little sister can't marry the heir either.
It's not a big problem since the king, Simone the Honest, has managed to produce two sons when I gave him a break from fighting. The adopted heir hasn't still got any marriage proposals and none of those foreign princesses wish to marry him. Dunno why, he's quite a decent guy and a future king after all. Or perhaps not a future king now that the king has two sons...

I think you have to marry heirs on the diplomatic screen, and can't marry your own daughters to them.

Yes, that might be the case. Makes sense, at least. Couldn't find a proper outlander princess to marry the heir. Nobody wanted to get involved in my wars I guess. The adopted heir just died after conquering Milan... Stubid rats, spreading diseases. I told them to burn the corpses but no. No wonder you'll get sick when there are piles of bodies lying around. Now I'm busy keeping my king safe from those frenchy assassins. If he dies before his older son comes of age the game'll be over. :drama1:
