I drank too much of it aaaaaargh
7 espresso's in half an hour
My body can't keep up with my mind
$15 of coffee is not good for you
My heart feels like it is beating so fast it will blast through my chest and fly away
I got the shakes, 'dem coffee shakes, yassah!
I managed to keep my body still, but instead my head started shaking.
Weeeeeeeee!

I guess we're going to start a coffee buzz thread?
Sorry I couldn't resist. ~;)

Didn't DemonArchangel get seriously messed up on caffeine earlier this week? There seems to be a trend here.
Hope you feel better soon.

Heh. Mikeus, now you know how my body reacted the first time I tried an energy drink. As in singular. One. Yeah, in retrospect, it wasn't a good idea, on account of the fact that I almost never consume caffeine at all. I probably consume more in chocolate than in any drink. I just don't drink caffeine at all. And then to hit it with an energy drink out of nowhere....ouch.

And so Demon's caffeine induced torment has taught us what?
Apparently nothing.
Mikeus, didn't you see his thread? He was suffering horribly. Did you learn? No. Will you learn now? Hopefully. Will you repeat this? I hope not but that's up to you.
Why can't you just drink a normal cup of coffee? Must you drink in excess--and we're not talking alcohol?

Yep, i read his thread, it was interesting to say the least.
I haven't drinken (drinken? That is not a word) to the excess he did (i.e near death) but it is pretty interesting.
At points, it's almost like i'm not in my body at all. It's like my body is an unrelated physical lump moving with all other physical lumps, while i am cruising along on a higher plain of existence.
A very shaky plain of existence.
I've only done this because i'm of the opinion that on an infinite timescale, everything will kill you, so why not sample it while you can?
I've quite frankly found this to be quite an interesting experience. Too shaky to be fun to repeat, but the whole existing out of myself part is something i'd like to repeat sometime. I'll need to do this again but with education, then i'll truly be free of my physical existence.

Eh, I always stayed away from large amounts of caffeine and harder stuff.
Lower than that, in safe amounts, why not?

I don't like coffee, unless it's mixed in with chocolate. However, there's this nice seafood house in Elkton, Maryland that serves specialty coffees. "Coffees of the World (http://www.howardhousetavern.com/OurMenu.html)" they call them. It's just normal black coffee, with whipped cream on top and varying ingredients depending on what you order. Chinese coffee has cinnamon, Russian coffee has vodka in it, and Scottish coffee has some whiskey. Very delicious.

Congratulations, you have discovered coffee can, in fact, have roughly the same effect on your body as crack. You have a nice day now, thank you for visiting Starbucks.

Chinese coffee sounds good.
I'm getting more picky about coffee as I get older. The darker the better. I also drink coffee for usually what it is... coffee. No additives are put into my coffee, although I may make an exception and try cinnamon next time. :balloon2:

Tea is just weed soup with caffeine. That stuff's nasty as hell.
Black, no sugar or cream, thank you. Waking up should be painful.

Black, no sugar or cream, thank you. Waking up should be painful.Black is the only way to drink coffee. If I have to put a bunch of crap in it to make it drinkable, then the coffee sucks and I shouldn't be drinking it in the first place... kinda like Starbucks coffee... vile stuff...
Quick tip- when the guy at Starbucks tells you the coffee is "bold", what he's really saying is that it's "burnt" and will taste like burnt rubber.

Interesting fact - whenever i pee, my urine doesn't smell of urine - it smells of coffee. It's been over 8 hours now since the last espresso, and whenever i pee there's a strong smell of coffee. No smell of urine whatsoever.
It's kinda cool, in a disturbing "holy **** what have i done to myself" kind of way.

People. If this is what you do to yourselves with perfectly legal and inocuous substances I don't even want to imagine where you'd end on hardcore drugs. Hunter S. Would be so proud.

Gentlemen,
Let us please remember that many of our fellow Orgsters are of a young age, and while we will not limit our discussions on all subjects, let us at least limit our discussions on some.

Right... sorry, I forget the young age of the Orgahs sometimes. I certainly did not mean to give advice on varying hallucinogenic states to anyone under the age of 21. Or 18, depending on how you look at it.
I do feel that my warnings about certain substances were quite valid, though. People do not seem to take these things seriously enough, and Mikeus's comment on thinking of using one of those substances made me leery.
Okay, community service After School Special time: "Don't do drugs, kids -- they're bad for you! Always get stoned on life instead" :clown:
And, yeah, that includes large quantities of coffee. Honestly, caffeine in excess is actually a lot more dangerous than at least one certain substance I can think of. It's like legal speed. In all seriousness, don't do it.

Never been into coffee, so much not that I usually refuse free coffee when offered. Don't have a coffee machine either.
What useful thing does it offer that milk and water don't? Oh wait, I heard it dehydrates. :laugh4:

It doesn't- usually "bold" is all they have. It really is vile stuff. Their espresso coffee is just as vile- it's just when it's in cappuccino form, there's so much steamed milk with it that it's harder to notice.

That's probably doubtful, Xiahou, as I've been to many high end establishments who don't serve crap quality coffee.
Starbucks is a matter of taste. Some people hate it, some people love it.

Starbucks is a matter of taste. Some people hate it, some people love it.
The trouble is that they over roast most of the coffee they brew. I (and many others, I would argue) like to be able to taste the character of the beans and their origins. Heavy roasting burns off much of the oils and other flavors in the coffee that give it that character. Some suspect that the reason Starbucks does this is for consistency- so that their coffee will always taste the same everywhere. I don't know why they do it- I just think it's disgusting.
Now, in the rare cases where I can find Starbucks serving coffee that isn't "bold", it can be tolerable- but that's been rare in my experience.
I'm not telling you that you can't like it- you're free to like whatever you want. It's just that it's not generally considered to be good coffee by aficionados/professionals. Consumer Reports testers' description sums it up nicely for me:
Starbucks, $1.55, was strong, but burnt and bitter enough to make your eyes water instead of open.
Myself, I usually roast and brew my own coffee- but locally, I think Wegman's and a few of the mom & pop places also make a decent cup. I think there's a Wegman's near State College, try some of theirs sometimes. The Columbia Supremo is usually good and sometimes they'll even offer a Yirgacheffe or Nyeri that's pretty good imo.

Unlike you Demon, i didn't take enough to keep a small elephant going for 2 days.
By time it came for me to go bed, i was absolutely knackered - the caffeine had made me do more excercise than my body had the energy to do, and subsequently i slept until lunchtime today.
It doesn't help that i didn't eat anything yesterday.

Too much coffee can make you crazy, literally (http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic3115.htm).
As a night shift worker, though, I need my fix.
