View Full Version : McDonald's Fries after 10 weeks!?
Hi All !
I just watched this video on youtube and it was kind of disconcerting. Chk it out and WATCH it TILL THE END. What do you think ? Is that freaky or what ? It's normal for food to decompose but those fries are downright scary.

I wish i had a faster internet connection so i could watch it now, but i get the basic premise of the video. Downright disturbing. Thankfully i've decided to stop going there after a particularly unpleasant experience of being surrounded by the dregs of society, while also thinking of what i read in Borat's book...
Hamboorgers is make from a cow who is shot to death in her face with metal bolt, then they hang her from machine and slice open belly so her insides are fall out, then other machine rip off skin, and meat is crush up and mix with the best bits of the animal brain and testes and feet and stomach and eyes and anoos, and then it cooked in delicious hot greases from inside of other dead animal and and placed inside vagine made from bread.
It was at this point i stopped eating, put down my 'food' and left.

Yes, that's from "Supersize me".
Spurlock demonstrates what happens to your body when you eat nothing but McDonalds menues. Not recommended.
Obviously the fries are either not made of potatoes or they're injected with enough chemicals to make them last for ever.
Enjoy your Happy meal.

Yes, noone but McDonalds. :laugh4:
McDonald's claims it is healthy, they've used the argument quite frequently. It's utter BS ofc. They are lying.
Don't get me wrong I pig out on McD's BigMacs or Quick Giants regularly but I know the truth about this company. I have seen the light MOFOS !!! The light was WHITE ! & it had COLON CANCER written all over it in fluorescent orange colors ! Anyway I'm now back in Europe and eating fast food quite frequently. Great way to eat ! Not.
IMO there's NO WAY those fries can last that long without going moldy unless there's some heavy duty preservative in there. A word on preservatives, those exilirs of life do not get broken down easily. They have actually fed some preservatives that are in our daily diet to animals like rats. After the rats died of natural causes they examined the bones, they found high levels of preservatives in THEIR BONES. LOL! Whenever I eat McD's I remember how my Dad used to say: Good work son! That stuff will preserve you like Tutankhamon !
It's important to teach kids what a normal healthy diet is. Wish someone taught me that in school.
Would have saved me a lot of dead cells ! leading to more powerful revelations of great videos on youchoob!
Supersize me is a great video btw, if anyone has not watched it, do! It's definetly worth watching.
As far as I know they said 'nutricious' not 'healthy', no lie there calories galore. As for the fries, there is an entire chapter dedicated to them in the book I just mentioned, along with some other juicy mcFacts.
Isn't it good when you can store them longer? ~D

They aren't potato at all. They're pure starch. And for the record, the fish sandwich is my favorite item on the McDonald's menu, because it tastes the most like real food.
Edit: that's not really a fair contest. Comparing a real burger and fries to the McDonald's equivalent is like comparing a real fish to one of those singing plastic fish.

Somehow I doubt that it only applies to McD. The other major chain stores likely aren't much better, or do I err?

I don't remember hearing their food ever being hyped as "healthy". And if I did, I wouldn't be so dumb as to believe them. Nutritional information is available at any store, on their website, or sometimes even on those crummy paper placemats your food is served on.

Well I got to the stage I was eating KFC/McDonalds/local chippie every night (+ all the sweets, Coke, crisps etc), did that for a few months and ended up unable to eat for a few weaks and kept IBS as a souvenir, made for a pleasant summer holiday.
There's no point in educating people on healthy eating, they'll either eat junk food in moderation which is OK or they'll learn the hard way, or die.
I hate that guy from the supersize me programmes, real original.:furious3:

This reminds me of a time I was on a bus in the morning and heard a young pregnant girl talking to her friend. She had been eating so much junk food and fatty food that her stomach needed to be pumped and she needed medication or something along those lines to clear the fatty deposits inside her. When her friend replied with the obvious statement, 'so you'll eat more carefully now then?', to my disgust, the ignorant girl answered, 'no way, I'm not going to change the way I eat'. I can only fear for the quality of life her child will have. The NHS should refuse to treat her for the same problem again as well. Maybe then common sense will sink in.

It doesn't matter what he does in the film- he's a fraud. I can go right now to their website and find the nutritional information on any item on their menu. I've also seen it on their place mats. You don't watch an agenda pushing film for objective facts. Don't believe anything in it that you haven't verified for yourself.
I watched "Supersize Me" before. There were a few interesting tidbits in it, but overall it was a huge disappointment for me.

I haven't seen the movie, but McDonalds nutritional information is readily available in all restaurants and on their website. Don't know about the entire world of course, but over here it is. You can find it right on the backside of your placemat. Nothing secretive about it. McDonalds even ran ads warning people not to eat too much fastfood.
Personally, I have never understood why McDonalds is so demonised. Big, succesful and American I guess? Bah.
I have no illusions about what uber-healthy food items like sushi and seaweed look like if you leave them for ten weeks.

Louis VI and Xiahou - in Europe you get the nutritional information on the back of the placemat, but i've noticed that over here in Australia, you get nothing. Just a blank sheet of paper.
Is it an EU law that they have to provide nutritional info on the placemats? Because i've been to numerous EU countries, and more out of need than want i've eaten McDonald's in them, and found they all had nutritional info.

I think it's only here in Europe. I haven't seen them in Canada or America either.
Proletariat
12-19-2007, 04:21
In America it's quite certainly the law.
Edit: Also noticed last time I visited family in Australia, that they use 100% Australian beef in 'Mackers'. In the US, I think burgers are made of something like 64% grade d beef. Anyway, the OZ McDonald's burgers are still pure crap I wouldn't force feed my mortal enemy, but from country to country, there seems to be a big difference in McDonalds burgers make up. What do they use in Europe? (I was in Italy with my mom a couple months back, and on a train from Naples up to Rome, we sat in a car with a stout Belgian who was friendly and charming, but took a few jabs at my mom's silly American patriotism. My Mom, who could lose 15-20 lbs, said something, I forget what, and the Belgian fired back something about how Americans love their snacks every five minutes and can't appreciate a good meal. My Mom retorted, 'you look like you enjoy your McDonald's!' and gestured at his weight! [point at his huge stomach]. The fat man responded that McDonald's food was a disgusting American sin and wouldn't feed it to his dog! He then explained that Burger King was his selection for quick dining. [I'm a bit drunk while typing this, so it might not come out well, but trust me, it was very funny. Guess you had to be there)
Edit2: If you live in the US and have that BURGER CRAVE, just go to Fuddruckers or Fiveguys. At least it tastes like beef, no matter how awful it is for you. People who are appalled by McDonald's health value are as retarded as someone chain smoking who's surprised by lung cancer.

Yes, but it was shown in Supersize Me that the nutritional information wasn't very visible or available in the McDonalds locations that were sampled. Has this changed since the film was made? Alternatively, perhaps you could visit your local McDonalds tomorrow and see if that information is there?

I haven't seen Supersize Me, so I'll do some investigating, EMFM. I also don't eat at McDonald's, so I'm kinda talking out of my *** here. I'll take a look tomorrow or the day after at one of the Mick-E-Deez near my work.
But really, no matter how obvious the sign is printed in the US, no one looks. People bright enough to observe where the Big Mac nutritional data is provided aren't stupid enough to eat there, so it's a moot point.

Yes, that's probably the main problem, and you're completely correct. I don't eat there, not because I've read the nutritional information, but because I can hazard a guess on what that'll do to my body. That and the fact there's no McDonalds near where I live, they're in the main inner-city for the most part.

There are a variety of reasons to hate McDonalds ranging from its perceived political symbolism to good old corporation hating and finally because their food just plain sucks -- although a stupid ******* big fat yellow M scarring an otherwise exotic landscape is good reason enough. But IMO, it's really the parents' faults if the kids are raised on Happy Meal and get all gravitationally different and stuff. You can tell just by common sense that the things aren't meant to be a growing child's staple diet.
But really, no matter how obvious the sign is printed in the US, no one looks. People bright enough to observe where the Big Mac nutritional data is provided aren't stupid enough to eat there, so it's a moot point.

In addition to Antiochus' point, you're still young. Fifteen, right? You probably do a few sports, and your metabolism and the amount of energy your body burns at that stage in your life is usually good. I put a lot of junk into my body in my early-mid teens, and I never gained any weight beyond healthy, with three sports a year and quite a bit of walking being all my exercise (walk to S-Bahn, walk from S-Bahn to destination, walk around town, walk back to S-Bahn, walk home. It adds up.)

There's a sign usually in McDonald's that has the nutritional values on it. Sometimes the signs are in odd places, however. Like there is one McDonalds that has the sign posted in a corner on the way to the restrooms. Another area of McDonald's that no one seems to care or want to use. Personally I wouldn't go in there unless you're at that McDonalds that has that offers a personal "blowing"~;) machine in there.:sweatdrop:
About a couple of months ago, I've also noticed they plastered the nutritional values on the boxes and wrapping paper they use. I remember when I first noticed it, I was about to delve into a double quarter pounder w/ cheese when the box fell of the table and I saw the nutritional facts on the corner of it. I promptly disposed of the box and sat down and continued to eat my burger. I don't even think I read it. Oh, well that's what I get for working in a store with a McDonald's in it. I just can't avoid the food chain, there's like 5 of them located within a 3 mile radius of my house.
I've never been to Fuddrucker's but I usually frequent the local Novrosky's to eat those delectable Buffalo (Bison) Burgers and Sweet Potato Fries and Curly Fries.

I've never, ever touched a burger. I usually eat the fries and maybe some chicken nuggets, though I see now that the fries may not be the best option one can take, but it's not like I eat there often.
i don´t eat at macdonalds because I don´t like their hamburgers....
I do eat at burger king on rare occasions....I like it...
now of course you can´t make that stuff the main staple of your diet...even the companies themselfs say so.
as for the Macdonald's fries phenomenon I say high salt content in the fries in the most likely explanation.

It's not like one is really much better than the other in terms of nutritional value.
As for the fries themselves, I would agree its due to salt content. McD fries tend to be saltier than those from BK or KFC overall and salt was traditionally used in the past as a strong preservative.
However, any store will allow you to ask for fries without salt (and they usually go to lengths to fulfill it too), making that point kind of moot.

KFC chips (or fries for those in the :unitedstates:) are way better than McDonalds. McDonalds are all thin and you always get burnt or soggy ones. At least KFC give you solid chips.
And KFC make 100% chiken chicken burgers, the Colonel says so.

Usually the truth works, where it doesn't, embellishment does.
I tell them the burgers have anti-puke powder added so you have a chance to digest them before you barf them up back up. I explain how the milkshakes have no milk, barely any shake, and are just oil products with syrup. The fries are made from liquified batter. The bread is bleached with chemicals, and the vegetables are sprayed with them. Then we get into the labour practices, the corporate greed, the cruelty to animals, and any other evil I can think of or make up.
My 11 year-old would rather walk through broken glass than eat McFood. When we drive by a McDonalds, my kids say, "Ew, gross."

Well, I'm sure its all fine and dandy now, but what about in several years when they go to college, and after staying up late hanging out with friends, one of them 'experiments' with some fast food burgers after being pressured into it. What if they realize one burger doesn't make them instantly fat; how long before they find out there is some real food at McDonald's and they begin to doubt what they knew, and then they start getting some fries with their orders, how long before they crave it, how long before they move on from just burgers and fries into milkshakes and desserts? By then they're in too deep to just kick the habit, they experimented with the burgers and found them edible and they thought eating more would be safe too. But it isn't and now they're addicted to the the real fatty foods.
