View Full Version : Another hotseat game?

Hello all. I've been having a blast playing in the three Kingdoms hotseat games. Not only are they fun, but I find that they take very little of my time, since I only play a turn every few days. I'd enjoy nothing more than to play a grand campaign hotseat game in addition to the Kingdoms ones. However, I know there are more hotseat games already than ever before, and one is already for the grand campaign.

Basically, I have two questions for this poll.

1. Are there too many/enough hotseat games already?

2. Would you be interested in joining a grand campaign hotseat game?

Maybe it's time to see what all the fuss is about.

Besides the Americas campaign, all the Kingdoms campaigns have been used for Hotseat, correct?

 Yep, and I'm a little worried about the balance in the Americas one (and the fact that anyone can field tons of full stacks from very few settlements, leading to somewhat...tedious progress :dizzy2: ).

Personally I'd like to try a Grand Campaign hotseat, but if everyone prefers it I'd be happy to start a Kingdoms one. The Teutonic game is great, and I think has the best balance and number of factions.

I'd be interested, generally. Im still dubious that I'll have enough time, but Zim keeps telling me it reallzy doesn't take very long. So yeh, I'd be up for it, pretty much whatever campaign you choose.

Well, diplomacy can take up a lot of time if you want, although the absolutely neccessary stuff is easy to get quickly. Maybe talk to Doug-Thompson. He's in a couple of games, and while he sends far fewer pms than say, me, he has no trouble at all staying on top of things.

Actually playing turns usually just takes me a few minutes, unless there's something I'm really unsure about.

I'd be up for another.

I'd love to get into a Grand Campaign Hotseat on the "ground floor".

I'd also like to get into an American Campaign.

I'd even play in another Hotseat that is the same campaign as ones I'm currently in but I would prefer if I am not the same faction if at all possible.

I will agree with Zim when he says that these don't take a lot of time. Or, if you want to get really involved with role-playing, diplomacy, and character development, they could take a lot of time. It's up to you.

I think a Grand Campaign needs some Muslim and some Catholic factions to provide more interesting options. Right now in the MPC campaign it seems like we all know exactly what each other is doing and it's not terribly engaging. If you think the Muslims are screwed by sheer numbers (I'll be happy to take a Muslim country!) remember the power of the turn 1 jihad.

Which is to say, I haven't gotten Kingdoms but I'm in for a new GC.

I agree with Ramses. The easy way to get that is to simply wait until we have all/most of the slots filled with human players.

With the way these hotseats have gotten popular, that shouldn't be hard...

I am in for a GC game.

I'll join :)

Wow, there's more interest than I thought, especially from some of the guys in the other hotseat games.

Ramses, I know one player who's been trying to get into one of these for a while and really likes the Turks. If he plays them and you play, say, Egypt (hey, with the name it seemed fitting. :beam: ), would be Crusaders might be given some pause. :2thumbsup:

I'll make a thread later today. Since it's the holidays and things are going a bit slow anyway, I'll leave it up a day or two to let as many people sign up as possible.

Watch, it fills up in a few hours like last time...

Hey, if anyone has a particular fction preference, but can't be online later when I start the thread, you can post it here or pm me. I'll try to give everyone the faction they want.

I'll see what other people take. . .now is it better to have AI neighbors or human?

Ferret

Sure, you are better of with AI neighbours. But I hope that all spots will fill up exactly beacuse of that. Though actually some countries will be hard to play.

If the Human player is friendly and you don't want to expand that direction, they're great neighbors (well, unless they betray you in some deal, ala the other game :clown: ), since they can defend themselves better and guard your flank. Otherwise, AI neighbors are nice, since they can be beaten more easily.

We could even have someone play as the Papal States! :clown:

Since we have already surmised that the interest in this kind of game is large, we might as well just start the OOC thread for it now. With a list of players and factions taken in the first post.

I'll start it now.

If you don't want to be Milan anymore, OK, just tell me and I'll change it. :2thumbsup:
