I got a laptop with wireless internet, trying to make my 360 use it but it's vista so it doesn't work. What should I put on sharing? The actual connection or the LAN? Modem is USB, with cellphone tech, and I bought a cable and connected the laptop with the xbox. It does recognise the cable, but finding ip is fail.

I have Vista on my new main and it causes issues with most any games I want to play. One way aorund this is to run a program as Admin. Right-click on the program's icon, click 'Run as Administrator'. Hope this helps.

Just want to use the laptop to get the 360 online;

'your console was unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server. Make sure that addresses are availableon your server''

hmmm, it's on automatic like it should be according to the FAQ. And as always the most obvious question 'why isn't my question in here' isn't in there.

If your laptop is connected to a wireless router, connect the 360 directly to the router as well, the laptop in between will only slow the connection down.
DHCP is a routing function that means the client/router functioning as DHCP will assign IP adresses to all other clients, can enable that in your router if it isn't enabled already.
If you want to do it over your laptop, you may have to tell your laptop to function as a DHCP server or assign a fixed IP to your 360 if that's even possible.
Hmm, just read "it's on automatic", if that means your laptop is set to automatically get an IP adress, then your router should be working in DHCP mode, if it's just set like that on the 360, then that means nothing if there isn't some DHCP server around.

I get internet from this little bell shaped thingie, it's pretty much a cellphone;

And now there is a direct link between laptop and xbox
