I guess you just hope the enemy spawns in the direction your troops are facing when you start a battle? Early on that has been the case, just wondering. Placing artillery was tough there for a while.
Ok, I invade Portugal and drive them into their castle. I am told I have gained X amount of gold. Next year I'm attacked during my siege and defeat the attackers and I'm told I gained X amount of gold. Next year I take control of the castle and own Portugal outright and I'm given a good chunk of gold. Now I invade Castile and go through the same procedure and see no gold at all. Is this because it's just a province of Spain and not the last standing province? Do you get the gold after conquering someone or are you supposed to get it after taking any province? I'm not talking about ransom for prisoners.
I'm finding the game fun but it's still pretty confusing for me. I didn't play Shogun and right now I'm having everything but the battle aspect controlled by computer.
