This is a thread for the barbarian (that is to say celts, and other north half of europe peoples rather than aryans, Greeks and nomads) factions that are missing and you think should be included. Preferably for gameplay reasons such as the lack of opposition to the casse and the somewhat unsubstantiated threats of vicious raiders that plague the Getai, etc.

Yeah I agree, the Belgae would make a great addition slowing down them sweboz

Hopefully better than their descendents did in 1940 anyways.

Sweboz are really annoying. I got like Kimbroz, Hattoz, Heruskoz, Habukoz, Silengoz, Ascaucalis, Rugoz by like 255 or so

Something by Germania to stop them from creating a CCCPesque blob.

One or more of the following, in accordance to their historical strenght, valua, importance, and gameplay reasons, would be my suggestion:

A Goidelic (Irish) faction to challenge the Casse over the British Isles
Goths (would be in a nice position to prevent Swebozia Magna stretching from Belgium to Finland and Russia)
The Bastarnae who could do that, possibly, and also pester the Getai
A Pannonian celtic faction/Illyrian tribe to prevent Rome/Epeirus from expanding there too happily (and they too could pester the Getai)

You gotta be exact, the Belgians managed to resist the Wehrmacht for 18 days, longer than the Dutch or Luxemburg. This gave the BEF a little more time to retreat at Dunkirk, thus making the 'miracle of Dunkirk' possible. BEF forces were crucial in latter stages of WWII. The Belgians did do more than expected ;)

As long as they can keep Germania from turning into the Purplish-brown-maroon death...

I suggest the Bastarnoz to stop the durn Sweboz from getting ridiculous. The Sauromatae, Sweboz, and Getai have free reign in that area - Bastarnoz or a Baltic faction needs to go there (the Balts were, after all, famous traders and several Balto-Slavic units are present already...)

Lol, it's cool man, we Belgians can take a joke.

It's not really fair to compare the Belgians holding out against the Germans longer then the Dutch, poor bastards got Rotterdam bombed to oblivion. Hope there'll be a total war game one day where you can do such things.. hehe :2thumbsup:

The Etruscans and Samnites were both defeated by 272BC.

I agree with the Bastarnoz - If only because of their position. Though the idea of an Irish faction is somewhat far-fetched, in EB's timeframe. I'd personally say either the Brigantes or those proto-Cambrian types, for a Britannic rival of Casse.

I would make an Italian Celtic faction and take away Mediolanum from the Aedui (they have no idea what to do with it anyways). That would make the Romans stay away from the North a little longer, provided both a run by the AI and do not start the game at war with each other.

I agree that another faction in northern italy would be interesting so as to counter roman expansion and force them to get into a war with some one rather than expanding to the rebel provinces and not attacking Epeiros. Also a celtic faction to the north would also offer expasion into Illyria and around the Getai if they expand.

How much knowledge do we have of a barbarian around the baltic? If there is sufficient Id be all for a faction there as well

Conversely, a N. Italian faction might just drag the Romans into a long indeterminate war, get steam rolled by the Romans, or steam roll the Romans. I rather fight the Romans than another tribal faction.

good point, i didnt realise the italic tribes were gone by then :dizzy2:
i agree, but a low-country tribe, such as the belgae, in along with one somewhere in eastern germany, or somewhere north of illyria.

But those guys didn't "form up" until around the ADs, did they ?

What about the Helvetii? A considerable power in their own right if we believe the account in the 'Gallic Wars' by Caesar. They'd be a good foil to Roma in the north and a good dividing line between the Aedui and Arverni, not to mention that their position would mean they would be a challenging campaign as the player, while sheltered in the mountain ranges, would have to put up with a land that has relatively poor income and the trouble of dealing with Gauls, Romans, and Germans. The unit selection could be quite unique as well, as I imagine the Helvetii troops would be a weird mix between celts from both eastern and western europe, Alpine tribes, and northern Italians.

IIRC the Helvetii were part of the Boii confederacy at the start of the game. The Boii are already represented by spawning stacks, so I am pretty confident they will be in EB2.

I'm pretty sure the EB team has no particular shortage of data concerning the Cisalpine Celts. It of course helps a bit the Romans for practical enough reasons paid a fair bit of attention to them, of course, so they're a fairly well sourced bunch.
