I love the new seas for 1.0, but I believe they make my game lag worse than usual. I was wondering how I could uninstall them/turn them off. Thanks.
They don't. They are the same texture size as the vanilla seas and make no difference to the performance of the campaign map. Forum myth.
Anyway you can find the vanilla seas on our website.

Dang. I guess EB is just inherently far, far laggier than vanilla and other mods. It's the price you pay for the extra awesomeness.

Hang back a bit there sally, if its not the sea's its something up North, because my game goes very laggy when I'm viewing up there too, I cant play Casse/Sweboz/Aedui.. trees maybe? The trees are more abundant up there, and more abundant up there in EB than in Vanilla...

It's not the seas, as has been pointed out - and the only reason why scrolling towards the north may be a lil' more laggy than scrolling anywhere else is the camera position. Everything needs to be rendered from some point far south of the southern borders of the map and with the effects of rendering a sphere as a flat map... Perhaps there's just more to be calculated per pixel if you go north regardless of what there is? Say, it's 1.001 times laggier to scroll north per tile: with the far bigger (broader!) map it adds up real quick.

With my recent downgrade in videocard, I've noticed the lag on the campaign map. It is caused mostly by the trees. If you turn of shadows on the campaign map video options, it will greatly increase your frame rate.

i had the exact problem too.... im running a 64 mb integrated video card, and it laged really badly, but when i turned off shadows, it got somewhat better.....
(im upgrading soon hopefully)

indeed are the trees, with my crappy PC central-western europe is unplayable without turning the shadows off, while in the east I can play with shadows on with no problems

I testify to that. Best thing I could have done, made EB ten times more enjoyable for the sheer simple pleasure of not jumping around when trying to scroll.

Did anybody try the suggestion of cutting down the EBBs show me how script file from 11 megs to 6.5 megs, through the removal of the Client Ruler spawn scripts?
It reduced my key board lag from a crawl to something usable. I use a 8600 GT so it ain't like my graphics card is maxing out on the trees.

If it isn't your graphics card, it is probably your RAM. EB runs best at around 2GB of RAM. If you look around the internet, you can easily find 2GB RAM for < 50 Dollars (American).

it depends what type of RAM you need though- i needed a "non-mainstream" (it was an older computer) type of RAM and it cost me about $80 for 2 gigs
