View Full Version : What to do with an evicted client ruler?!
Howdy all,
I had a client ruler in a Numidian town that revolted and he was evicted. Because of the extreme movement penalty imposed on him as a client ruler, he is basically stuck out in the middle of the desert and is now starving.
What should I do? Relax the movement penalty and let him back into another city? But all the other cities in the region already have FMs or other client rulers, so I don't know where to put him? What would have been done in history? Abandon him to return to his native people?
What would you do? Thanks for any advice...

Maybe you should give him a small army and have him attempt to retake his town. If he takes it back then he is reinstated at puppet king, and if he dies then you don't have to worry about him anymore.

Too bad this isn't the age of swords for Japan. Then the ruler would just committ hara kiri after getting kicked from his own city. Solves that problem effectively.

My client rulers can't move. Not from inside the city, not from outside in. I've tried the client ruler fix but it hasn't had any impact. What should I do? I've already lost one city to the Getai because I couldn't sally even though I had a superior force, and reinforcements were too far away...
Is that fix savegame compatible?
Just change the movement penalty for type4governor to whatever works. Retroactive and compatible.
I'm having the opposite problem with client rulers (not to hijack the thread or anything). I set a type four to build in a newly conquered town. The client ruler spawned next to a Sweboz army that walked up and laid siege in that same turn. The client was trapped by the radius of the siegers, wasn't able to get into the town, and didn't get the client ruler trait. When I moved him into his town after driving off the siege, he had full movement points and started getting interloper traits. Ever since, I can't get a new client ruler to have the client ruler trait. Saving, reloading, exiting the program, killing off all the oddball clients in suicide attacks, nothing works. Ideas?
Try to destroy and rebuild the gov4. Unless he's staying in the city, the script should kill off any previously spawned guy, and make a new one.

Hi Bovi -- Could you please give some more detailed info on precisely how to do this? Name of file to edit, exact line to modify, etc. I haven't yet dared to jump in to manual editing of the EB data files and I figure this will be a good intro. Many thanks!
You could take a cue from the changes in the optional "Client ruler increased sally movement" fix ~;). It concerns the file export_descr_character_traits.txt. Search out the type4governor trait and I'm sure you'll understand what to do.
