For the last couple of weeks I've been working on a mod to add a new faction to the game, until a few days ago it reached a total halt.

I have finished most aspects of the mod. Units skins and ui are completed, faction and unit descriptions are done, characters, agents and armies have been added to the campaign map, names list is completed, battlemap banners are done, campaign map icons and banners are done, culture and religion is sorted, and faction standings and attitudes have all been completed.

There are just a few small but important things left to do before I complete the mod. These are:

Mount Units (so they do not stand on their horses)
Add Faction Symbol outwith Campaign Map, also 'Empty Settlement' Flag
Change Faction Voices/Music

The faction I've been making is based on the Normans, so they are linked to the English flags and voices./music. If I could find the file where these are set, I would be able to change this.

As for the mounting units, I'm stuck. Dismounting units is fine since every mounted unit in game has a twin dismounted model, but this does not work vice-versa.

Please someone tell me how to change these last few but crucial points so I can release my mod!

:help:

For faction symbol, you want to look at the descr_sm_factions. There are values for:
loading_logo loading_screen/symbols/symbol128_england.tga
standard_index 12
logo_index FACTION_LOGO_ENGLAND
small_logo_index SMALL_FACTION_LOGO_ENGLAND

I also think that the standard index has something to do with sound, but not sure with that one.

As for mounting, you will need to create your own unit models with milkshape or 3dsmax...

I've noticed the standard index applies for the symbol that appears on army/city banners on the campaign map, and I've got it to work for that. Changing that didn't stop the English icon from appearing in the selection screens though, or affect the sound.

The FACTION_LOGO parts were for the faction icon in the campaign map, didn't alter the selection screens.

Gah! I was afraid you would say that. Is there a tutorial for it anywhere? Dismounting tutorial is not much good for me.

Thanks for your help anyway, I'll keep looking for tutorials...

EDIT: I've been reading Alletun's Tome of Knowledge, and the part on mounting units doesn't mention changing the model. I'll do some testing...

EDIT 2: w00t!!! Got the mounted units sorted, Alletun is the man! And no modelling required.:sweatdrop:
