It is. Goodwill and peace to all men. Suddenly I feel no longer an urgent need to destroy the Greeks. In fact, I think I will go back to my game and give them trading rights.

That's the spirit. Yea!

who makes the theme for the guild anyway?
I'm offended because we don't have snow this time of the year.

The winter theme is nice, but it went away as soon as I logged in and my account defaults got applied. (Odd that it made me log in; I must have nuked my cookies recently.)

who makes the theme for the guild anyway?A combination of people make the themes - the majority of the manufacturers not actually having anything to do with the forum whatsoever.
In case you didn't know, the forum is based upon software known as vBulletin (v3.5.4). The software can be "modified" to add certain components and plug-ins to it. The Links and Downloads Manager (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/local_links.php) (LDM) is a good example of such an add-on. Communities of add-on coders/designers exist outside of the forum itself and make the majority of such additional components.
Themes, although not quite as major add-on as the LDM, are another type of add-on to the forum's software.
From what I can gather, only the skins known as R:TW (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=8), Sengoku (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=9) and The Guild (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=4) are made by resident artists (I believe that barocca/Tamur can be credited with much of their design). The Sword Dojo (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=2) skin is based upon one made by an external party (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=1) (the makers of the forum software themselves) with many small modifications to add that S:TW feel.
The skin which is currently activated (Xmas (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=14)) is one of those made by an external party.

If anybody dislikes the current theme, click here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=4) to move to the previous default (The Guild skin). If you wish to use an alternative Christmas theme (Xmass), feel free to click here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=15). To return to the current default (Xmas) click here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/?styleid=14).
To modify your skin for your current session only, simply scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and choose your favorite skin from the drop down box on the far right.
To modify your skin for all sessions (both the current one and all future log ins) you will need to enter your UserCP's "Edit Options (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/profile.php?do=editoptions)" category.
Scroll down to the "Miscellaneous Options" section, and select your favorite skin from the drop down box in the area identified as "Forum Skin.
Move down to save your preferences and your skin should be modified.

I like it. It's nice. Makes a change.
I like most of the themes here, the Sengoku and RTW themes are some of my favorites. As for the current theme, it's great!
I dont like it for 2 reasons (1 of which might be unrealted to the theme)
1. the colors are to light. I can live with the Xmas theme if there was a darker backround.
2. pop ups. Im getting a 3fold increase in pop adds over the last few days. I doubt that has anything to do with the new theme. However they both started occuring around the same time.
1. I kind of agree with you there, Christmas is better at night.
2. Get a pop-up blocker. =P

That wouldn't have anything to do with the theme. If you're using IE then consider changing to another browser such as Opera or Firefox, also check and immunise your system for spyware with something like Spybot S&D. Personally I don't get any pop ups at the .org and never have, but I've always browsed the .org from Firefox with noscript, flashblock and adblock extensions. There is a certain tracking cookie that comes from the .org, that I won't mention, that I've blocked and also blocked the url from running scripts. This maybe why I don't see popups.
The winter theme gets my thumbs up. :2thumbsup:

At home I never get pop ups i have the requsite blockers. My office PC is a whole other thing though, I'll have to cut down on the porn at the office I suppose. :idea2:

It's an alright theme, though a bit... sharp or bright on the eyes. Too much white. Voted "yes it's cool".
