This happened to me twice on Normal, GA.

First time as the English, I conqured rebel held Norway and Sweden. Eventually a norwegian rebellion arose with a full stack of troops. I didn't really want Norway and didn't have enough guys to fight so I abandoned into Sweden. Then, 10-20 turns later, I looked at the big map and saw that Norway was red and that the rebel army had magically turned from gray to red. Note, I did NOT send an emissary over there to bribe him. I didn't even want Norway.

I didn't think much of it until I played with Italy on GA, Normal the next game. Like last time, I decided to take Norway and Sweden from the rebels for a cheap victory. Pretty soon a norwegian rebellion arose, once again I didn't want it. Well, 10-20 turns later, the big rebel stack in Norway has turned Venetian Doge Green, with NO visit from an emissary or bribe.

Anybody else see this? What is up with those norwegians?

A few other people have posted on this - I think one of the devs said that basically the rebels decide to join your faction or some such.

so they meant for it to happen, they just forgot to put a graphic announcing it? Silly Norwegians, so insecure!

After I posted something hysterical about it, I was informed that this is a feature of the game. While playing the Turks (and conquering everything in sight) the *Portugese* (believe it or not) joined my faction. Weird.
