View Full Version : Priests and the Plague

Everytime the plague strikes in Medieval 2 it always seems to be my priests who mostly die from it. I thought this was just a little quirk of the game but in my boredom on Christmas Eve I was reading about the plague and apparently it especially impacted upon the Church because the monks were the ones looking after the sick and obviously, were more at risk of infection. This resulted in a severe shortage of them apparently.

This makes me wonder whether the massive effect the plague has on your clergy in Med 2 was actually intentional to reflect this historical fact. If so, a big thumbs up to CA for that! Any thoughts?*

Well, none of your clergy suffers from the plague unless you happen to have them actively infected by moving an infected unit with them or placing them in an infected settlement.

They don't seem to have a much higher chance of dying than any other agent really.

:shame: I must stop reading this forum. Knowing the mechanics of a game ruins the magic.

Yup, keep your roleplay going bud.

It's more fun that way. But it may be coincidence but I had some agents standing 1 tile away from an infected settlement and they also got infected. It's not enough to be outside the settlement. Keep them a good distance from the settlement.

You probably had them become infected by something else then.
The plague strikes at specific coordinates and those are exactly aimed at the settlements.
So you can surround your settlement with agents and units and they will NOT be hit by the plague unless you infect them actively.
