so when i have been playing the Marian reforms ive noticed that the auxilary cav that the romans can recruit (hispanic, gallic, thracian) generally suck. Htey dont act as shock cavalry and when i try to engage other cavalry (gallic brihentin) they get cut to pieces because they are skirmisher cav and have to exhaust their supply of javelins before they can go melee. is there anyway that i can disable the javelins portion or take out the javelins for the romani aux. cav altogether?

Merry Christmas :-]

Just Alt+Right Click to attack with a unit's secondary weapon. So, in this case, the cavalry will attack with their melee weapon.

Merry Christmas to you aswell.

Incidentally, you should use alt-attack with most cavalry units, as it will make them switch to their secondary weapon once they've charged. The secondary weapon generally has a higher attack value.
