View Full Version : Scenario/Battle editor
I know that M2TW gives you the option to create your own battlefield using a Battle Editor (PCGamer published an article detailing how to open it, apparently it lies low). The editor basically lets you choose the location of the battle, the layout, the terrain, etc etc. The standard stuff in any battle editor.
I'm wondering: Is there an option for Rome that I could use for EB (So's I can flex my creative muscles a bit)? Is there a program out there I could install that would let me have a battle editor? Or is there just no way in hell to have that option?
There's some thingy that lets you create custom historical battles, but I know nothing of it. Maybe abou will pop in here and say a few words.

Right click on your EB shortcut, hit properties, and look for the line "Target". Next to -show_err and all the others, add "-enable_editor" (without quotation marks). Be sure to leave a space between all the commands. When you open EB, you can access the battle editor under the options panel. You can create historical battles and custom battle maps. I've done both (in Unofficial mods forum), it's quite a challenge. Sadly my battles are for .81.
Great. Thanks Fanatic. Would I be able to use the custom battle maps for multiplayer games?

Yes.
The easiest way to create custom battle maps, btw, would be to simply jot down the coordinates of a particular area you find appealing for fighting a battle in, opening the custom_locations file, and following the format there to create a new map. There are only four lines of text for each map, it's a lot simpler than it sounds. Open the file and you'll see what I mean.
