I've been a junior member of The Guild since Aug '07,and I was just curious on how you advance from being a junior member,to a member, and on to senior member? I started this thread because maybe it can help other new members to get an answer to my question,as well. Thanks.:book:

Just enjoy yourself, follow the rules and post around without spamming. You will soon get promoted to Member. Maybe you have been a little inactive and thus overlooked? I don't know.

Senior Member is an honorific, which has no practical advantages except for a slightly larger PM box and a slightly shorter flood delay. Oh, free beer at Kukri's and looking down upon Assistant Moderators notwithstanding. :grin2:

A belated welcome, SpartanGlory1983! ~

I think that in your particular case, you were probably just overlooked (possibly due to not posting that frequently). Just PM TosaInu, and he should take care of you.

What! All we had to do to become members was to PM TosaInu? It took me 100 posts to become a member! It's not fair!

It can be done at the click of a button, just need to grease the wheels a little, cash, women, and beer (in that order) are all acceptable.

It took me 147, mostly in the colloseum!! Gah! it makes me sick when I see members with 8 posts!! :furious3:

There are members here who have fewer posts than that. It's all about quality, not quantity.

Postcount has got little to do with it. Some forums are just less moderated or more crowded, hence the contribution of junior members is sometimes overlooked. PMing TosaInu is for those cases that someone has been here a long time, but hasn't been promoted yet.

Your help is apreciated. Just try to be active, maybe you came into this forum and you weren't That active. PM'ing TosaInu, our local God, will help you.

out of interest where is kukris house?

and can i be made a senior member please.

i ran out of beer

as other people have said its quality not quantity so get posting in the right places to get recognised post a few times a day and ask any questions you have and if you can help someone why are you reading this post you should be posting the help you can give them :P

i posted a few tiems over the course of a month or 2 and then one day posted a few helpful posts and got promoted cos of that so its not exactly hard to get made a proper member

ok im of to kukri's for some beer and i better get that senior member status by the time im there

Many have asked the same question, many have made the journey though few have returned. As a youth I once sought the legendary beer palace of Kukrikhan, after many days of trekking over snowcapped peaks, searching the darkest forests and braving scorching deserts I had to admit defeat and return to the .org. It doesn't exist.

At least 7.04% of my posts were quality.

Goto Roswell. Face due west. Proceed, following the afternoon sun and sunset - about 900 miles. If you get to the Pacific, you overshot; back up about 27 miles. Knock, using the secret knock given to you when you were advanced to senior, and enter.

Beer's in the fridge, to your left. Kindly mind the recycle bins (blue for cans, white for bottles) nearby. Smoking is permitted, but is an outdoor sport. Spitting is verboten. Please sign the register before you leave. Enjoy, grael-seeker!

Heh, we once promoted a Junior Member after his first post - but what a first post it was! Wish I could remember who it was...maybe Kukri remembers.

Thanks! I didn't expect so many responses the day after I initially started this thread. I'm pleasantly surprised!:2thumbsup:

The first part is different from what you posted elsewhere a long time ago. You moved?
Well the second part is very much the same with small amends.

As for advancing to Member, it all depends on posting quality AND being noticed by mods. Posting in the introduction thread or the entrance hall in your own thread helps I think. So does joining a PBM (as you need to be a member to vote) where the reigning mod tends to make you a member rather instantly if you are committed.

I made the mistake of not doing any of the above besides quality posts. It took some 350 or so posts (20 posts a day) in the Citadel buglist and Citadel in general to get to Member. I guess it could also be attributed to there being a HoF thingy going on about a week after I joined and they didn't want new members eligible for it or so

Now there is a sign of a top-notch student.

Yes. Three years ago I moved about 3 miles westward.

Amazing. I bet you're virtually un-beatable in games like Trivial Pursuit or Jeopardy.

I think you remember Mithel, way back in November 2002 (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=16349). He came bearing gifts, and got promoted to "Senior Patron" immediately (back then the progression was: Jr Patron (Entrance Hall access only), Sr Patron (a bit more Org access), Member (full access) and Sr Member (exalted poobah)).

It looks like he Mithel just dropped off his gift and went back to playing MP. IIRC, there were a few other fast-risers.

I remember JoeDreck was promoted after his first post in the Citadel promoting a mod he made.

I was the fastest of the fastrisers - i was instantly a member because i'm just so awesome.

Actually,it might have been a combination of both this thread and PMing TosaInu via Martok's advice. But,hey,it worked, either way!

PS - BTW,I dropped the "3" off the end of my name because it started to become somewhat of a mouthful for me. Not that it's relevant to anything,I just thought I'd mention that.

Omanes was promoted to member within 12 hours of signing up! :laugh4:

As to the secret knock. If you look at your promotion PM when you got Senior Member, there is a hidden picture with letters and numbers. I've hired a freelance team to decode it.

Also, if we Senior Members get to look down on the Assistant Moderators, I shant look down on Martok. He shall ever be the Lord of the Stables, while I am deputy overseer!

Indeed. The man's prolifcness for writing intelligent, good-natured, and useful posts never ceases to amaze me. (Small wonder he was promoted to Senior Member and then AM as quickly as he was!)

It was your advice (about PMing TosaInu) that helped make it happen. Big thanks on both marks. I hope to be able to give back as much as possible.

Well, I couldnt get a sleep tonight so I was looking around the org as usual and I found this thread, seeing all the remarks about tosa makes me really depressed.. I remeber pm'ing him myself for full membership back in 2005. I guess I still cant admit it.. Rest in peace my friend...
