As the thread title implies, I have encountered a CTD with EB. Report as follows:

Version: EB 1.0, with no other mods installed.

Year: 239BC

Player Faction: Romani

CTD - When: After I press the 'End Turn' button, so during the AI's turn. I used the 'toggle-fow' command to see when the crash occurs. It happens at the very beginning of the Carthaginian turn, immediatly after the screen has swapped from the Selukeid lands to focus on the Carthaginian capital. I'm not sure what the Carthaginians are doing as I've not got time to see before the crash occurs.

Attempted Fixes: I've attempted all the permanent and temporary fixes in Bovi's rather excellent guide but sadly none of these have made a difference. I've gone through all the motions five times, with and without the background script enabled - all to no avail.

Background Script: I have always reloaded this whenever I have reloaded the game, if not immediatly then straight after the first time I press 'End Turn'.

I hope that's everything you need. Any help would be much appreciated! I'm in the middle of a big project at the moment and this game was providing some much needed relief!! Thanks in advance for anything you can do.

To continue, as it wouldn't let me post a URL in my first post...

Saved Game: Posted to http://www.axifile.com?1676624

Additional Info: I've tried cancelling all construction/recruitment orders, also with no effect. Also, none of the cities that I control are about to rebel.

Cheers!

Thank you for your report. It will probably be a while before we can find the problem, but it's likely to do with a rebellion. Please check the cities of the carthies and whichever 3-4 factions are next in turn after them. Reduce the population of any with red faces until they're blue.

Thank you Bovi. I'm afraid I don't know how to 'check and change' the populations of any Carthaginian or following faction's cities as you suggest. Can you please explain how I would go about this?

Use the "toggle_fow" cheat so that you can see the enemy cities, then just click on them and look for the rioting icon in the bottom right of the details scroll on that city.

Thanks, but I tried that and I can't access any more information about the opposing factions' cities than I can when I normally select those unobscured by the fog of war (i.e. buildings, units and population are hidden behind question marks and there's no way to see/amend them).

I presume I'm failing to do something obvious here, so any further clues would be much appreciated!

There's a pitchfork symbol showing in endangered settlements when you double-click them. It's tedious business to click them all, but could be worth it :2thumbsup:.

Ok I had a look through the Carthaginian cities and I can't see anything, but I don't really know what I'm looking for. Where would the pitch fork symbol be exactly? The top of the city info box? The bottom? And if I find one how do I reduce the population? Thanks!

If you siege a city, then view it, you'll see the siege symbol. The pitchfork will be right next to that area. Use the console to reduce population: add_population <settlement> -4000

This is very unscientific but it got me past a nasty one . I was playing as the romans, busting my ass to get to the reforms. 172 BC all i need is my praetor to become consul and to take 2 more regions...then CTD! ARGH!

I tried it a few times. CTD CTD

So what I did was not activate the script and end the turn. I let the computer decide all the battles during the OPP turns and it let me past.

Not sure why. But it worked.

Yes, that stands among the techniques to try in the "How to ask for help" thread
