You suck at New Year. Either that or the council runs about 7 minutes behind the rest of the world.

I went to the official big party thing, when midnight struck i could hear cheering and music from the bars and buildings nearby, meanwhile the Mayor was still rambling away about it nearly being time.

7 minutes later the fireworks finally started, which were okay. Now i'm back home enjoying the novelty of being 'in the future' with my friends on MSN (they're still in 2007).
