Watch Towers, how to destroy them ?

Do you know if is it possible to destroy built watch towers ?
It seems to me to remember that in vanilla RTW I used to destroy them, but actually I missed the way and I'm not able to destroy them.

I can't recall that i ever attempted to pull down a watch tower. But then, it's quiet a long time since the last time i have played RTW-Vanilla.

They can't be torn down, and that really makes me sad.
The AI always builds their towers in stupid places, like choke points, preventing me from building a fort there.
