I have been board wargaming and PC wargaming since 1996. I have MTW(with the VI expansion),RTW and STW scattered on my hard drives. My late dad was a WW2 veteran. I don't want to make this too long so I'll leave it at that for now.

Welcome noone! You've got the best and don't need the rest concerning Total War games. I strongly recommend trying RTW with EB though.

I should have said that I have been board wargaming since 1971(right after I saw the movie Waterloo in the theater). Also, I didn't mention that I have four working mods - one of them being Europa Barbarorum - for RTW and eight more for MTWVI(actually I should probably make that seven since I recently downloaded and installed the latest Ancient Total War update and the mod stopped working, and now the author is away for a couple weeks). I've played a couple of custom battles with EB and, as everyone probably knows, I've found it to be a slow loader, so that mod does require some patience, to be sure.

Do I have to post more messages before I can get rid of that barbarian that currently serves as my avatar in favor of something more civilized or am I allowed to do it any time?

You can change it already. Go to User CP -- Change avatar.

I like the newer avatar a lot better. Some of the nomenclature on the profile editing page had me confused, but now it's all good.

I think I'll be around these parts for a while. Meanwhile, I was thinking back to when I first signed up here and tried to post at one of the regular Guild forums and my post ended up disappearing. How many times do I have to post here before I get to make the big move to the regular Total War forums? The Entrance Hall is good but I have specific concerns that I think belong at specific forums/subforums.

You should be able to access most of the forum already. You only need to be a full member to post in the Miscellaneous section.

I know I'm not new around here anymore but since I last posted at the Entrance Hall I added MTW2 Gold to my Total War collection. I've also posted a few times over there(at the MTW2 forums)as well. With the four campaigns added to the original game the whole package makes for a really big install - over 17 gigs worth. Now I just wish I could edit some of the files and make my changes stick like I did in RTW(and its mods). I wonder why that process was made as difficult as it is in MTW2. Do the words "user friendly" mean anything anymore?
