Does anybody else listen to music whilst writing, if so what music is it? Personally I like classical, heavy metal and a few movie scores. It really helps me get into the mood for certain scenes.

Dead Silence. A tomb free of any trembling of auditory vibrations. A crypt without cacophony. A nothingness of noise as complete as within any vacuum in the great voids of interstellar space. Not a whisper of wind. Nary a mouse fart. Nothing but the pounding echoes of cranial discomfort as the emptiness of my brain resounds within itself.

Shhhhhhhh!

A number of things, classical is wonderful, but I also like listening to Floyd or sometimes Led Zep when I'm writing. But silence is often good too. It depends alot on the piece and my mood.

Jazz ballads can be intelectually provocative. Especially by the greats. Miles Davis, John Coltrane etc.

Right now I am listening to Miles Davis's Flamenco Sketches. My ears slurp up every note like....spaghetti? It's what came to mind.

Sorry to revive this thread, but I just gotta post.
I'm gonna turn this thread around 180º by saying "stuff all of this classical piano stuff". I find it easy to write/type with music like Techno/House/Trance etc. Slowed down in the tempo of course, but I find it easier mainly because if the music is too lyrical, all I can think about is the next word... to the track. :laugh4:
That is all.

Holy thread necromancy batman!

I've never been one for classical music myself either when I need to really crank out an action sequence. I haven't really posted many stories around the .org lately (too busy) but when I did i'd like to think my fast paced battle sequences won me a least a little recognition around the mead hall. Can't really get in the mood for that unless I'm listening to something heavy. :whip:

I'm with Beirut -- nothing but the wind in the trees or I get distracted. It's the same reason I use Q10 (http://baara.com/q10/) to write with -- nothing but a nice big black screen, and no way to get out without save/quit.

Thanks for that link; Q10 is now downloaded to my PC!
