View Full Version : AI created general
Hi,
I've recently modified the campaign_script so that Lilibeo has city barracks instead of milita barracks (one level up). This to make the battle for sicily a bit harder when playing romani (more variety and better units). However when I play a new campaign, the AI seems to create a general for the army there (I believe it happens in the second turn).
Which is nice, except that with the general carthage attacks almost immediately syracuse or sometimes messana (270 bc), which was not the idea, since the first punic war didnt begin till 264 bc. (most of all I'm not ready yet)
Does anyone have any ideas how this is created and if it can be removed ?
The strange part is, that even when I revert back to militia barracks, the AI still creates the general...
There is a Karthagian general in Lilibeo (Hamalcar the elder, father of Hamalcar Barcas and so grandfather of Hannibal). The AI can not recruite generals in Lilibeo because that would require a Level 4 governement and the gov. there is Level 1.
I've posted some screenshots to explain what I mean exactly :
After the first turn there is an army without a general :

Second turn there is an army with a general:

Well, the AI does create a random general without any reason ... and always with two fixed traits (20 years old and blooded)
Is this somehow due to the script or is this hardcoded AI behaviour ?
btw, of course there is Hamalcar in Lilibeo, i'm not stupid :inquisitive:
Adopted: He is the Captain from the first screenshot.
thanks for the answer
I assume that you can't control where/when they appear since they are AI created
damned
No. Karthago starts with way to few family members and so the eninge will always try to create new. In my Karthago campaign I have lots of births.

I would love that to happen in my Romani games, I only ever fight Karthago captains in Sicily, the family member is left in Lilibeo all by himself for a simple assault.

ok i am going a bit offtopic:
so you say you can adopt any captain if you have level 4 gouvernament (sp) center?

Nope. With a level 4 governement you can build a level 5 local barracks. And with that you can recruite generals (in most of the provinces).
No. You can recruit a general with a level 5 regional MIC, which requires a level 4 Gov.
EDIT: Bah! Too quick for me Konny!

And with Lvl 4 Gov a Client Ruler spawns, of course.
What is the condition for Xanthippos to appear, btw? Just the date?
There must also be a war between K. and Rome for Xanthippos to offer his assistance.
