View Full Version : Poland too easy
ok. I play as Poland and I think it's to easy because you have many pagan provinces on east&north they're too easy to conquer. Novogrod has poor army - easy to conquer too.
Religion should be more significant:
I have provinces with 90% islam religion and provinces with 100% catholic religion and I don't see any difference between loyalty (garrison 100 men + border fort in each province + the same tax rate). How religion affect loyalty ?
Trade - easy money, too easy in relation to ship cost and support. If you have many provinces with port you can buy large part of Europe http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Let AI build his trade fleet quickly.
spies - put 6-8 spies on enemy or ally province and you can get this province for free because you can bribe rebellion army (sometimes 3000-8000 florins, if you have 60000 florins this is nothing) or conquer them (easy) http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif Spies should have less effect or AI should use spies often.
Have you actually finished the campaign?
A lot of people complain it is too easy when they have 12 provinces or so, when the real difficulties only start once you own half the map (and dont look at mapcoverage, since the east has huge provinces that supply very mediocre amounts of resources so is misleading).

I'm playing Poland on hard and I find it plenty challenging. Before I could build my economy and army enough to knife deeply into the east, the Egyptians and, would you believe, the Spanish, and the Turks had it all. (The Spanish established themselves in Turkish held Novgorod with a Crusade.) The Poles start very slowly, considering that Poland doesn't even start with a keep, for God's sake. I'm growing nicely, but I'm afraid this game is already way out of balance as I'm the ONLY European power left to face huge empires of the Almohads, Turks and Egyptians. Fortunately, the Britons don't seem to like Muslim rule, so I've exploited their rebellions and taken the British isles, along with Denmark, Sweden, Norway, some of the Novgorod provinces and all my homelands. I'm interested to see what happens next.
Love this game.

If you play as Poland it is very easy to do.
I play on expert. I had 57300 florins on 1203 year. I have : denmark, sweden, norway, pomerania, prusia, silesia, poland, volynia, lithuania, livonia, finland, smolensk, novogrod, muscowy, ryazan, volga, pareyeslavl, chernigov, khazar, kiev, moldavia, carpathia, wallahia, bulgaria, constantinople.
I had only TWO rebellions ! I lost only TWO battles (in novogrod and khazar (very nice and long battle http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif ). This is my second campaign game. First on expert level.
Bradygames guide help me a lot http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
I have trading post + upgrades, governors with high acumen - every province. Most of them has very high tax. port - every coast province. Trade routes on most sea regions.
When I go to war with Turks my cash ruined for a moment to 20000 because of large armies http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif but this war was easy http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif Turks don't have large armies because they don't trade so much...
ehm.. sorry for my english ...
What period do you start on as poland on early has duff rebels around it. On late its is surounded by factions, who have the tendancy to ally against you.
and if you think your so good play on line and try to beat me.......
if it's too easy try a mod...like mine.

My experience with the poles matched the write-up in the game (started early). I grabbed the surrounding territories, and was poised to march east and take more, when the Byzantines took the territory I needed to move east. Since I didn't want to wage war against the Byzantines (I didn't have anywhere near the infrastructure build necessary to fight them & anyone else who jumped in as allied became neutral), that killed my expansion of rebels. I'd recovered after a while (made up the difference in lost territories and revenue) via trade across the entire map and capture of Sweden,Norway,Scotland and Ireland. I was gearing up for a major push on a neighbor when the dreaded Oscillating Crusade decided that Hungary and Poland were where it needed to bounce back and forth in. Thus ended my efforts as the mighty Polish!
well, some are better at the games than others. no need to brag.
