View Full Version : Old National Geographic Maps
I found a rusted metal box in my basement, which is filled to the brim with national geographic maps from the forties, fifties, sixties and seventies. I was wondering that one of you might be able to tell me if any are of value. I havent been searching long, but I could probably use some help.
Also, there was a small box in there that contained little nat geo booklets from the 40's-50's about countries that do not exist anymore...

I would imagine there would be some collector somewhere looking for something like that.

Depends on the condition , the maps would be worth more if they had the edition they were issued in aswell as that makes a complete package and collectors like completeness , that being said you may find a market with collectors that have the editions but are missing the maps or booklets .

.
Try ebay. Keep the auction time long, put no upper limit, avoid instant sale ("buy now") and see how many people will raise it. ~:)
.
That is incredibly awesome. I would keep it.

plus u can make a rediculous minimum price just to see where it goes. Also you can pay for an appraisal, probably cheaper if you go to an antique show

I second Fraggony advice.

Who says I am going to sell them? Id just like to know what they are worth. Then, I will keep them untill Im old and gray. And then I might think about selling them.

I'll buy them from you ASAP. I'm a big fan of geography and especially NG. Don't worry, your maps will be in perfect condition with me. ~:)

You can always keep them to use in the Monastary or for their potentially increasing value. ~:)
They would be useful in the monastary as there some maps that I have that I cannot find online, or if I can, its too much a pain in the ass to worry about trying.

nah...they are growing on me. Its kinda like a potentially valuable tumor.
I used to love those maps as a kid. Whatever you do, scan them to your computer first.
If you want to know how much they are worth contact something like Antiques Roadshow or Flogit or some tv program like that.
