Hey lads, i know most of you might not know me since I just immigrated from the EB forum (a mod of Rome) but im here once again to ask some advice: having just got rid of EB and Rome to make space for my much loved Medieval I find myself wanting what i just got rid of: not EB itself, but the campaign map! The map in EB stretched further east and south than the current Medieval map, giving the campaign a much more tactical, as well as realistic feel. above all i wondered if any of you could help me in my search for a new mod.

Im after a mod like EB in the respect that it has a large map, quite a lot of factions and most factions dont start with half the continent(s) under their control. i realise what im asking for is a lot, but im sure you guys know a lot more about Medieval than me, so if any of you could point me towards the best mod, in each of your opinions, id be eternally grateful. cheers!

I think 'The Long Road' expands the map into Persia.

Also 'Broken Crescent' I think has a very large map, although it doesn't include western Europe, and focuses on Islamic factions.

Both the Ultimate AI and Stainless Steel mods include expanded maps as well. Stainless Steel also includes 3 additional factions. I highly recommend it.

You can get it here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=314). Note that 4.1 is the most recent version for vanilla M2TW. 5.1 requires Kingdoms.

Wow, that SS 6.0 map looks....humongous :dizzy2: It looks like there's about 3 times as many cities in a given area and at least twice as much landmass, so thats about 6 times as many cities.

Eeek. :rolleyes4: I'm actually not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing - dont think i have enough time to conquer all of those before i die of old age.

I have only played SS 4.1 (don't own Kingdoms), but the number of territories looks about comparable with the 6.0 version and the total area covered by the map is the same (dunno about size). The really nice thing about it is that they added most of the new provinces where they were really needed. For instance, there is now enough room for both Scotland and England to exist in the British Isles with acceptable power and without going to war. The Iberian peninsula got the most significant increase IMO and, combined with the new Aragon faction, it makes for great wars and long-term shifts in the balance of power there. Just controlling the entire peninsula itself is now a mini-Empire. Similar expansions have also aided Sicily, Venice, and the Turks. Most factions can now be powerful without having to expand much beyond their traditional borders, which provides for a greater challenge in the long-term. All in all, I think they've done a great job. I'm actually considering buying Kingdoms just so I can play SS 5.1/6.0.

Worth it just for LTC IMO. Although i guess SS is basically LTC on steroids anyway.

is there any mods making the balkans and eastern europe in general "bigger" and incorporating more balkan and eastern factions? or maybe a specific balkan mod?

would be cool to hold back the turkish tide as the serbs or wallachians in a bigger, more detailed balkan, I always felt there were too few settlements on the balkans for that.

I think the Tsardoms mod might be what you are looking for...

I don't know if there has been any release yet...

Nor do I have any links to it...

My pleasure. I just discovered Stainless Steel a couple weeks ago myself and it instantly revived my flagging interest in M2TW.
