Hello!

Does anyone have a link to the tool so the hard-fought campaign I am in does not end at 1453? PLEASE!

Thank you!

You don't need a tool! ~:)

Find where your MTW is installed. Go to the sub-directory
Medieval - Total War\campmap\startpos and in the files
EARLY.TXT
HIGH.TXT
LATE.TXTfind the following lines:
SetStartDate:: 1321
SetPeriod:: LATE
SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 1087
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 1205
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 1321
After them add
SetEndDate:: nnnnwhere nnnn is your prefered year.

Err....would not going to the present 'SaveGame' file be more appropiate ?
Which tool to use to alter it I do not know.

This post is in error. Blame it on a bad memory and not double checking my facts.

I assume this will work in MedXL as well as Vanilla.

:yes: Same engine, same limitations.

do I have to change all of the startpos txt files or just one?

can I have differant end dates for differant campaigns?

Mouzafphaerre

.
You need to change each file for the corresponding campaign. If you're playing Early, changing EARLY.TXT will suffice.

So yes, by adding different ending dates to the corresponding files.

excellent. gives me a few more years to drop a hammer with the Golden Horde.

I always found the 1453 end date very arbitrary. 1521 is much more sensible.

What's the significance of 1521; Karl V's coronation? *checks* Nope, that would be 1519 or 1530. What then; Luther's excommunication? (Thanks to Wiki)

I would make it 1492. :yes:

From the top of my head isn't it when Cortes conquered the Aztecs? Or was that the other bloke with the Incas? I also think it was in the heat of the Italian Wars between Spain and Italy.

Yep, Cortes thing. :yes:

can I inquire as to how you know so much about the past? then again, this is coming from the mind of a 15 yr old studying modern history.

Many members here are very interested and knowledgeable in history. This becomes painfully obvious whenever CA releases a new game or x-pack and the unit rosters are exposed in all their glory. ~D

There are several hosted game mods here whose main goal is to be as realistic as possible to the historical period. The Monastery forum is also dedicated to historical discussions, you may want to check it out if that's your thing.

Welcome to the .Org! ~:wave:

Books and encyclopaedias know much more than I do and they are generous to teach what they do. :book2: :computer: Yet, I won't be rated amongst the knowledgeable, considering the historymongers of the ORG.

Don't try this trick with the Gold Edition 2.01, it will disable your .exe.:jawdrop:

when I added the SetEndDate nnnn, the game wouldn't even play for some wierd reason.

Mouzafphaerre

Maybe it's the syntax?

SetEndDate:: 1500
SetEndDate, two colons, one tab, your date; and it must be placed after the other date declarations.
