I have seen many threads about it, but they are all long-dead. Has anyone fixed the problem of the senate not outlawing/ no civil war? The only solution i found was the show-me script but i still had issues with that. :juggle2:

To the best of my knowledge it isn't possible because the BI.exe doesn't contain the code to handle the outlawing/civil war stuff, which is why the CTD occurs.

is the code hard-coded? if so, do you know how i can script a showme script for an event (ET_SENATE_OUTLAWS_FACTION) no clue how to make it work...

The code isn't hardcoded in the BI.exe it is missing from it. It is hardcoded in the RTW.exe, but isn't there for the BI.exe. Without being able to edit the exe you can't add the code in, which you'd need to get out of the RTW exe, doing either of which is illegal.

A script wouldn't work, because as far as I know you can't stop an event from being processed via the scripting language, you can just do stuff when an event happens, not interupt and event and keep it from happening.

Not sure why it isnt working for you but I've got a game running under BI and I get outlawed factions left and right, though I have much more Romans, it just shows that it has nothing to do with BI or Rome as engine ... BI == Rome, though with a few new feautures ...

For your outlaws...sorry to bother but can you explain how they occur? I have played to 12BC; I just wondered why it didn't happen...i play on mundus magnus so i haven't gotten enough popular support yet (I play slow), but the other factions have and i have had 1 rank in senate before without being outlawed and also never got a message, same with the other factions...thanks for the tip on that though i'll see what i can do.

Thanks for not letting the thread die too! :skull: :smash:

well for the 3 main factions, the ones with additional hardcoded routines towards each other and the senate, I dont know how to trigger them, but afaik you need the Marian reforms before those kick in, and than A LOT of popular standing with the people ...

Getting them to trigger on an other Roman is rather easy, you need to make sure the Romans are allied (they dont cause outlaws if there wasnt any link between the faction, so an alliance between some Romans is a requirement), than when the alliance is broken ... outlaw the faction that doesnt belong to the "Roman Core" (hardcoded Roman alliance)

So you can have an outlaw-event at turn 1 (not turn 0) but it cant be one of the 3 hardcoded Romans ...

Do these "Romans" recieve senate missions?

Ya know what, thanks for all your troubles! Problem solved!!

Well, not actually solved but you were right, it is RTW with some new features. Looking through the forums made me think it wasn't possible but it is; it's just with the BI.exe it gives smarter AI (it is harder to be outlawed but it still happens). All i did was, for an hour or so, start a campaign and walk around with my diplomat bribing entire regions with my Force Diplomacy script (I'm no cheater I just use it when the AI would rather not exist then submit) until I got around 65 or 70, checked my senate stats until my popularity with the plebs was 2nd from top, then attacked rome with a spawned onager and auto-won it (didn't want to take risk of another CTD later in the game). Senate destroyed, got the win movie too :2thumbsup: . Also, when I attacked the Senate I was outlawed with NO CTD.

Again, I appreciate your patience on my ignorance :sweatdrop: .

even better, Medieval 2 == Rome ... (you can have a senate and 3 Romans etc etc in M2 just as well as in Rome, at least there is nothing that makes me believe it wouldnt work ...)

Anyway ... you're welcome ;)
