View Full Version : Archers on walls and rain.

Couple questions, I notice when I put archers on the walls, only the layer closest to the outside wall fires. Well I understand that does make sense, but I was still wondering if it would be possible to make them all able to fire over eachother somehow or another, like increase the max angle or something.
Also, I don't have the best video card currently, a weak geforce 6200 agp, but it runs fairly well even on full stacks of armies set on huge, until I run into a map where it is raining. Raining KILLS my fps, reducing it to a near standstill. I was wondering if there was some way to turn off this weather effect. I got some more questions I may post later so yeah...
Anyway, thanks guys.

It happens on the larger walls, not much you can do except to try to spread them out in order to get as many men in the front row as possible.

Regarding rain, one thing you can do is delay the battle if it's raining before you setup - the weather is often completely different.

unless youre on the defensive, in which case the AI chooses the weather conditions.

Good point. Are there any of those "realism settings" under the graphics options you can turn off or tone down? (I haven't played with them in a while - iirc there where ones for shadows and grass - perhaps they would have an effect.)

I don't see why rain would lead to a slow-down in the first place. This game uses really simple rain effects, and shouldn't lead to any slow downs at all.

Well I got a gig of ram and a fairly good P4, not the best settup, but my Geforce 6200 is a piece of crap. All I know is during rain matches, it slows down a lot, which is mostly during siege battles, where the graphics card I figure is used the most, so yeah, rain is bad. Anyway, any way to turn that off would be great.

I don't have M2TW installed on my comp atm due to a harddrive crash, but I vaguely remember being able to change the weather settings. Just go to the main menu, click options and go through each of the submenus. Be sure to click on advanced options under video settings too

I you sure it is caused by rain and not by the siege battle itself? All those buildings are hell on the graphics card. Try turning building detail down.

Well when it isn't raining, siege battles aren't too slow. When I am not in a siege battle and it rains, it gets a little slow, but not unbearable. When you combine the two, it is absolutely sickening. Doesn't happen often, but happens often enough to really make me mad.
Anyway Ill look around on the menus and stuff. So there is no way to mod an archer where all can shoot over eachother? That sucks.
Oh btw, in the Kingdoms expansion, are any of the bugs that plague M2TW fixed, such as the AI going dumb when you sally forth ect?

Does anybody know if rain or snow halves the damage or accuracy of arrows, like it was in Shogun?
I don't know what it does numericaly, but it does affect them (they have atribute that they are affected by rain (but I don't know what that exactly means)).
