I seriously don't know what to think about these nuts. I don't know whether they honestly believe the crap they spew, or whether it's all a big inside joke and that they're the greatest trolls ever.

What do you guys think?

Refresher on WBC:

They're fine musicians. (http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=720_1179383603)

Some people don't like them. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9IbtD7Kzrg)

Louis Thoreux (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O228AQRvcqQ&feature=related) spent a weekend with them.

Utterly crazy. And on that subject, here's Fred Phelp and co singing 'Gay Bar':

One thing I would like to see is a real Biblical scholar challenge them on the basis for their beliefs.

I think real Biblical scholars have challenged them in past, only to be faced by the comeback that their on the side of the gays, apparently.

I'm thinking their trolls. The whole thing is a big irl trolling operation on their part.

I doubt trolls, just because I doubt someone would put the entire effort of their life towards such a project, forgoing all happiness and becoming the most hated family in America just to troll. (CR factoid; they threatened to come to a graduation at my high school seven years or so ago. They didn't show)

Why did they threaten to come your graduation? I can't think of any 'faggot conspiracies' that might be behind your graduation.

And they may well be trolls - this may be their only way of getting happiness, by being so hated. Masochists, y'know?

Well, I guess you'll have to think about some more possibilities. :beam:

Still, to do so for decades, and have no children or people quit and come forth to say that...

I'd always thought they seemed sincere in their craziness, and I've met people with even creepier ideas about things here in the Northwest of the U.S. where I live. :dizzy2:

If people like that were just trolling for attention, I think I'd actually be relieved. It's almost harder to believe anyone is that stupid.

Here's (http://cjonline.com/indepth/phelps/stories/080394_phelps03.shtml) a letter that Fred's son Mark wrote to the Topeka Capital-Journal around 14 years ago blasting his dad.

Apparently four of his (numerous) children have been estranged.

I don't see why you find it so hard to believe that they genuinly believe what they believe. People believe a lot of things.

Their line of Christianity isn't disimilar from one that I imagine you would've got in not so long-ago centuries. Can you imagine the attitude of most Americans if the First Ammendment was to pass gay-marriage legislation? They're just following a very dated (and twisted) set of beliefs and taking them to their logical conclusion and following them with a lot of pride and conviction.

This is what happens when you combine twisted beliefs with absolute devotion. The world is full of people who have one or the other and also has quite a few people who have both.

I think she'd qualify as a 'homosexual*- enabler', which means she's going to hell.

*not the word used obviously, but the same thing.

God's aiming is a bit poor though, so no worries. When he aims really well he might hit Norway though.

Well, regardless of what you believe Phelps is taking from a book that says most of us are going to be forgiven, so long as we except God.

That's what I don't get, the devout Buffet religion.

Can someone explain that?

If when he sends the Fire of Wrath, and part of the East side of Norway is devoured because of bad aiming, He is truly GOD! and he hears prayers!!! :2thumbsup:

Uhm, God has been using water for most of the time nowadays, and there's probably enough Swedes working in Bergen to prove for Westboro Baptist Church that God really hates Swedes.

So I wouldn't recommend prying that that much. :inquisitive:

It does not seem to be that many Swedes in Bergen, I don't seem to hear about them anyway.. In Oslo on the other hand.. I think I heard more Swedish than Norwegian while I was in the army there.. (As an example, all five of the serving staff at my hideaway resturant from the camp were Swedish..)

They are crazy but not "utterly" crazy. Also, round 10-12 years ago they didn't used to be as crazy as they are nowadays. They seem to have got progressively more crazy over the years.

The thing is, a lot of the stuff what they says is indeed biblically-based and supported by the Bible. They just add a bit too much of their own personal craziness on top of it.

Many "mainstream Churches" are nowadays becoming every bit as crazy as Westboro Baptist is, just on the other side of the spectrum. Mainstream Churches are for the most part claiming that what the Bible (or good portions thereof) says is a lie. According to the Bible, that is apostasy and the dawning of apostate Churches as described in the Bible. Apostate Churches are no better in God's eyes than Westboro Baptist is.

The point is, many mainstream Churches need to own up to their own apostasy & stop preaching it, and are every bit as crazy as Westboro Baptist is.

Ah then we have nothing to worry about. Bergen is known to be quite resilient to water. :2thumbsup:

About the funniest thing I have read in a while. Instead of pointing out exactly where Westboro Baptist has gone against the teachings of Christ - you happen to turn argue that all mainstream churches have a problem.

The point is Navaros - Westboro Baptist as a church is committing several deadly sins against the religion that they claim to be part of. The primary one is preaching hate - not love of their fellow man.
