Spearmen Vs Pikemen

Just done a little bit of unit comparing:

Spearmen vs Swiss Armoured Pikemen. I did 3 tests, all on flat ground (Agincourt).

Attacker:
1 unit of spear men: V4 W0 A1

Defender:
1 unit swiss armoured pikemen: V0 W0 A0

Attacker's army cost less than defenders by 45 florins.

Attacker won all 3 battles.

Draw your own conclusions...

Yeah swiss armored pikemen generally suck, becuase they are really over priced.

The swiss pikemen lost because the spearman has a morale of 8. Still, the pikemen make a good defensive unit against cavalry.

in an actual battle, those spearmen would have been cut to pieces as soon as their formation had been broken, better units are more robust when taken in the rear/flank. Or so is my limited expierence so far.

That's weird. Stat-wise, those pikemen should have won, I think.

Your spearmen have 1 better charge and attack and 2 better morale. The pikemen would have 1 better defense and 2 better armor and have more bonuses due to rank. I'm finding in single player that I have to switch pikemen and other disciplined units to engage at will instead of hold formation at the start of every battle to wrap-flank while the battle is going on. Otherwise, many won't be engaging the enemy.
