I was wondering if anyone could give some tips on how to get myself going while playing as KH.

Either I move the forces on Crete to Greece proper in an attempt to take on the Makedonian stack or ignore it and hope it doesn't attack me while I take Kydonia.

Either way, by the time I have completed what I want to do, that Makedonian stack has hired a bunch of mercs and becomes impossible to take on with my current forces and I am stuck in a long and tedious time very very slowly building up enough to be able take them on.

Is there something I can do to avoid this situation, or is it basically inevitable for KH?

I am playing on VH/M if that makes any difference.

1st Bum rush Kydonia from the get go . You have a Spartan bodyguard in the unit(I think) . While it ain't vanilla that thing can still mess up any other unit you throw it against .

2nd quit whining like a *****

YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR ARE ? YOUR IN THE ORG BABY AND YOUR GONNA DIEEEEEEEE!

sorry I know him from another message board so I have to harass him .

Keep defending from Mak and Epeiros until you build up your economy, focus your attention on the mainland until you have a strong foothold. Pick either Italy or Turkey to focus on, build up 3 or 4 stacks for an invasion and let the rest handle itself.

Just a small question about the victory conditions - am I required to take all the regions shown on the map, or the ones mentioned when I click the question mark in the top right corner?

The ones required when you click the question mark button.

The Map is incorrect.

personally i find the KH one of the coolest factions. on twcenter we had the same topicsome months ago.

you basically have a few options.

- you can try to defeat the makedonians. i did that once, didn't bother to take crete, just rushed home, had my fleets discarded and launched a simultanuous attack on corinth and chalkis. that way they i could preven't them from uniting those 2 big stacks they have and in the end they lost both towns. afterwards the AI retreated north and left me alone for no reason at all which personally i dont understand.

if you let those 2 armies unite your screwed. since your generals aren't cavalry winning is nearly mission impossible.

- another, fun option, is relocation. you have a strong fleet and the whole mediteranean is your home. you have the black sea (crimea, olbia, trapezous, sinope), sicilia/southern italy (syracuse ftw!), asia minor (seleucids are kicked out in no time, conquer sardis and phrygia and then go for pergamum, followed by kicking out makedon in mytilene = succes assured, only watch out when the ptolies come BACKSTABBERS! :furious3: ), you could even try cyrene, massilia or emporion. somebody even succeeded in conquering egypt :laugh4: . you will ofc make a lot of debt. i went for asia minor, had me -20k. but after conquering sardis and ipsos i had 2k/turn. so after 10 turns i could rebuilt some forces and go for pergamum, the absolute must have city with a large mine.

this is why KH is one of my favourite factions: so many options :2thumbsup:

- Take out the Epeiros Capitol for a sweet fully upgraded Barracks.
- Take Korinth, its not hard.
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- Slingers are your friends
- So are Classical Hoplites
- Hoplites in guard mode are good at not dying
- So are your FMs
- The first turn is pretty much the only turn you'll be able to get troops.
- Don't feed the perverted old man in Rhodes

Well thanks for the advice....though some of it rather strange...

I think I have managed to get myself in a good position. Losing the army that had just captured Kydonia to Makedonian and Seleukid fleets turned out to be quite helpful. Making 3500 a turn now and preparing to take Korinth and Chalkis now.

Really? It was my Athenian family member who became a pervert. And he waited until he was 60 to become a pervert. I suspect some ancient ED drug is involved.

I barely won a Pyrrhic victory against Antigonus with my far inferior force early on in my KH campaign. Following that, I slowly built up my vulnerable army and allied with Pyrrhus. He invaded Macedonia from the northwest, and I from the south. I still can't believed the AI worked with me!

Then I stabbed Pyrrhus in the back...

Ahhhhhh, well said Fanatic, well said. I played Koinon Hellenon a while back and what I basically did was bum rush Chalkis and Korinth, killing two birds with one massive stone. Then I fortified, rebuilt, and worked my way up to Demetrias, then went west to do my usual rebel bashing. Makedonia left me alone because I do believe that they were having problems dealing the Getai. I moved up, mauled Pyrrhus and gave him the boot off of my rightful possession of Greece, rampage Crete, then marched my armies around the Aegean coast, mauling Macedonians as I went. Then, I ended up taking Byzantium, and pouring out from my super fortresses along West Asian Minor. Seleukia was remarkably kind in supplying me with dinner materials for Seleukian filet while I greedily hoarde my Greek spoils :coffeenews:.
